Just to serve as a counterpoint to any negative reviews – I agree that it’s truly special. I’ve had three terrific meals at Petite Trois. I absolutely love the place and it’s one of my favorites in the city right now.
Indeed, I think pretty much all of my meals there have been exceptional. I cannot recall anything mediocre there.
Personally I think that night market song is trash. Sure, the menu seems adventurous, but the food is so bland. Jitlada is overwhelmingly better in my opinion, Pretty much every restaurant in Thai town is better in my opinion, The “Burmese” curry was particularly atrocious and didn’t taste at all Burmese, or Thai, or anything other than sucky, The jungle curry was so far inferior to Jitlada’s jungle curry that I don’t think it should be called jungle curry; they should be sued for false advertising or trademark violation or crimes against humanity. The only good thing I’ve had there was the chicken with waterbug paste. Just to name drop places I’ve been- only other place I’ve ever knowingly had water bug is Vientiane. This restaurant made me think j gold doesn’t know his ass from a hole in the ground; this is totally fake watered down shit.
Congrats on eating probably the worst dishes at the place lol
Yeah, at one point the cooking slagged off, and the spicing fell way below what it originally was at Song because of the massive popularity.
You ever go to the original?
To me, Jitlada sucks. The pork crying tiger was the only thing I’ve ever eaten that I thought was alright there, but the pork jerky at Ruen Pair is better for about half the cost. I’ve literally thrown up in the parking lot twice after my meals at Jitlada, so I gave it about as fair a shake as anywhere can ask for I’d say.
So could just be different ideas of what one wants out of Thai food. Night + Market is not meant to be strictly authentic Thai food btw. If you ask, they will make the heat legitimately beyond handling for you though. When Song first opened, the jungle curry’s standard heat level was so intense that I cannot imagine many white people handling it…sadly, that proved to be correct, as the next time I had it post-popularity it was indeed far less hot (and less flavorful). The khao soi went through a similar phase, but has somewhat return to its former glory now that the kitchen has learned to cope with their extreme popularity.
But I ate at the original location last night, and the heat was certainly much higher on average than at Song I think. You should go give them a try, and maybe order some dishes other than Burmese curry… if I can go back to Jitlada asking puking up kidney curry in their parking lot, and do it again, I think you can go check out the original N+M.
March 13-19. I could potentially use some company for Parks BBQ or Rustic Canyon.
I’d probably be game for Park’s.
park’s has game now?
… and mad hops.
…barley soju
Craft brews, too?!
I’m having a very confused day already, but what the heck is this animated GIF in reference to???

Google it.
It’s funny, I have the opposite interpretation of Song v. WeHo–I think the flavors have become much more subdued in West Hollywood. It probably just depends on which cook you have that evening, and where Kris is that night.
I recommend Ham Ji Park in K town. The ribs and pork neck soup simply cannot be replicated in San Francisco.
Why specifically San Francisco? No Koreans there?
You can find dwaeji galbi and gamjatang up here but I haven’t had either.
Oh you can for sure find it, but, this is really A+ versions of the stuff.
Ham Ji is dope and unique but Park’s is more memorable for food quality, banchan and atmosphere
Kobawoo is my jam.
Are you me? This is what I’ve been saying for a year now. Same exact sentiment. Just had a 3 bottle dinner at Papilles again.
