Chinese inspired Thanksgiving dinner with “Taste of Sichuan” Beef Shanks from ATK’s “A Very Chinese Cookbook” - diced beef shank get first braised in water with plenty of ginger and star anise and then a second, shorter braise in a mixture of ginger, garlic, rock sugar, doubanjiang, shaoxing wine, chinese black vinegar and soy sauce. Finished with some toasted sesame oil. Served with some stir-fried choy sum and rice

Oh wow!! Are those butter flake rolls available just to grab in store?
I honestly don’t know; I ordered through the WF Catering section:
Thank you! That works too!
You’re welcome. They’re rather marvelous!
We got lazy. Went to Gao’s BBQ and Crab. F–king great meal! Some of the standouts were chicken skin (thin, crispy and flavorful), pork rib (chewy and sweet), squid body / legs (perfectly grilled). But let’s be real, the star of the show was big lamb skewers… at happy hour, they are $1 each and each skewer has 5-7 nice sized checks of gamy, tender but still slightly chewy lamb with a touch of seasoning. I think me and my two sons had 15 between the 3 of us, on top of everything else we ate. We’ve been to a bunch of these Chinese skewer places and this is our favorite. The food was great and the ambiance was perfect - there was a guy singing karaoke covers who was surprisingly decent and covered all our JJ Lin, Eric Chou and Michael Wong favorites
Great looking pie!
Love the idea of rotisserie using charcoal takes skill
