Now open at UTC. I’ve heard about this place from the LA board but for some reason my expectations were not very high. Totally wrong though, the beef mo (meat pie) and the liang pi were both very good. I’ve had liang pi at Green China Grill and Shan Xi Magic Kitchen and both those versions are pretty good but Qin West was quite a bit better. The mo was cumin forward which is usually a negative for me but was delicious. Check it out (in spite of my photos)

Glad you like it! Qin West is my favorite Chinese restaurant in LA proper. That’s not saying a whole lot. (I think Pine & Crane is pathetic.) But I order from Qin West once a month or so, making it one of my top 5 go-to restaurants for delivery.

Yeah same, I probably order the Guilin soup once per month. Also not a Pine and Crane fan, though I’ve done better at DTLA.
Not sure you’ll like, but Jade Wok, specifically the house special tofu and braised pig tails with peanuts, are homey and comforting.
I don’t eat much beyond American Chinese food in LA proper. But I do think there are some hidden gems in Chinatown proper (not SGV).
