Restaurant guests gone wild

So I was thinking it might be fun to have a thread dedicated to watching guests melt down/behave badly at a restaurant.

Just had the most odd experience at a to be unnamed Brentwood restaurant where I felt super uncomfortable as a guest melted down by where I was sitting and started name checking some hotel he stayed at in Paris name checking multiple restaurants he’s eaten in that city and ‘I’m off to London tomorrow’ & ‘I’ve lived in Brentwood 30 years’ (I’ve lived in Brentwood longer than that, do I get a gold star?). I think I was more annoyed at the manager for trying to active listen his way out of the situation instead of just kicking him out!

Soo awkward. Lol so if you want to name and shame or not I’d love to hear your uncomfortable restaurant stories.

I’ve heard of naked sushi but I didn’t think it was the customers stripping down lol! That’s crazy

It was almost a year ago, at The Curing Yard, a restaurant in Brora, Scotland. An elderly couple ordered the fish & chips, and the husband was absolutely livid about how dark the chips were. The server explained that they are twice-fried, but he would not be mollified and insisted that they were burned (they were not burned). After a while, his aversion to the brownness of the fries started to sound kind of racist.

I was judging him pretty hard, and then I threw my own fit over how expensive my martini was compared to the rest of the drink menu. (Still stewing about this, tbh.)

Recently had a Martini for the first time in a while, but it’s not really my favorite cocktail. I’d rather have a 50/50 if a bar has good vermouth on hand. It’s so awkward when you see something like that but you saying something really won’t help the situation

The “rules” in Scotland were very mysterious to me. In many places, you pay for your gin by the milliliter - I get that. But if you order X amount of gin with tonic, your drink will be much cheaper than if you order the same amount of gin with a little vermouth and an olive. Haha, just kidding, there are no olives. You get a lemon wedge (there are also no lemon twists).

So I started just drinking gin and lemon. It’s like a martini, only extremely dry. And there’s a lot of great gin in Scotland.

this is crazy. I would’ve lost my appetite. they went the whole meal shirtless or was this just some stunt for the picture / onsen bonding ritual?

Yoshi-san should have kicked them out. But he won’t.
