I love Bologna, been many times. Lots of history, great walking city. And of course fantastic restaurants, great markets and groceries, fabulous gelato.

Near Campo de’ Fiori I recommend Ar Galletto. For some reason it doesn’t come up when I search.

Miscellaneous reports - Rome

[chalkboard] Went back to Ar Galletto. I think it’s a bit fancier than eight years ago. [murgo] Our server does the wine list (also buys the fish), he steered us to this nice Etna Bianco (€30). [ovuli] Ovoli salad (€30), a treat. [carciofo] Carciofo alla romana (€7), maybe the best of the trip. Stem was not bitter. [mazzancole] Mazzancole (€30 for four), excellent. [galletto] Half of the galletto (€22 for the whole, we split it), first chicken of the trip that was not overcooked…

Also one of my favorite sidewalk cafes, VyNIQUE Farnese, a block away across from the Palazzo Farnese. Beautiful square, great place for an aperitivo and people-watching. Keep your eye out for Swedish nuns with elaborate headdresses driving by.

Thanks @helen_s do you have any restaurant, markets or food recommendations? It seems like Bologna is a very walkable city so we’ll find a nearby air bnb.

Two restaurants we really enjoyed in Bologna were Trattoria Amerigo (which is outside of Bologna but definitely worth the drive to it)

One of the most well known restaurants serving cuisine from Emilia-Romagna is Trattoria da Amerigo https://amerigo1934.com/ about 40km outside of Bologna. The drive to it is already great through small streets in the hills around Bologna. The restaurant is celebrating 90 years and has a Michelin star for more than 30 years. Beside the a la carte menu, it also has two shorter tasting menus which might be some of the most affordable one anywhere - and the food, service and ambience is outstanding.…

Restaurant recommendations in Bologna

Looking for restaurant recommendations in Bologna. We will be staying in the Cirenaica area and will have a car so also open to any interesting options in other parts of the city or surrounding areas. Also interested to hear any recommendations for good gelato or lunch/sandwich places
