Shake Shack To Open in DTLA

FYI

There are exclusive L.A. items on the menu: In addition to signature items, you can order something called a Roadside Double, a double Swiss cheeseburger with Dijon mustard and onions simmered in bacon and beer. And three of the Concretes (frozen custard with mix-ins) are made with ingredients from Los Angeles bakeries and chocolate shops. The Brownie Points is made with vanilla custard, Larder Baking Company salted caramel chocolate brownie, peanut butter sauce and chocolate toffee; and a Rainbow Connection concrete includes vanilla custard, Cofax spiced crumb doughnut, Sqirl Seascape Strawberry & Rose Geranium jam and rainbow sprinkles. And the Shack Attack L.A. edition is a mix of chocolate custard, fudge sauce, Larder Baking Company salted caramel chocolate brownies and Compartes dark chocolate chunks with chocolate sprinkles.

Parking situation: There’s a dedicated Shake Shack lot with an entrance off Santa Monica Boulevard, just east of the restaurant. Look for a space here before trying your luck with the meters on Santa Monica Boulevard.

I so don’t care about this place. I’ll go in a year or something when there’s no line and I already had Guisado’s that week. This is LOS ANGELES. We’ve got great burgers in every category. Nothing to get worked up over IMO.

Not FTC Status for me.

Rode by on Wednesday at 10 pm. Saw line, laughed, made a right and had a couple of slices at Vito’s without any fucks.

It’s a very good burger from all accounts but we have those and better already

There’s always room for another good burger. The marketplace will decide if it will fly in LA or not.

It’ll fly. This is the city that invented hype and marketing. Since their product is also quite good, they’ll make it just fine.

you don’t really believe ā€œhypeā€ and ā€œmarketingā€ were invented in los angeles, do you?

no… though we drive it now.

Woot! Next Shake Shack location is reportedly going to be in Century City!

The funny thing is I used to live right by Madison Square Park. Now both Eataly and Shake Shack are opening practically in my backyard lol.

maybe, maybe not. seems like ā€œhypeā€ and ā€œmarketingā€ are everywhere. it’s a big world.

Yes but this is Los Angeles. One of top 2 hubs for marketing and advertising, home of entertainment and tons of media companies, all the hype click-bait merchants, home to a lot of artistic trend-setting types. you can trust me

Totally agree that Bill’s is nothing special. I much prefer Eat That Burger in North Hollywood.

wow, Bill’s must be terrible. LOL

twss.

eh, your original point is lost on me. the place will either be a success or it won’t. whatevs.

I’m still dying to try the 'Shroom Burger. I can’t think of any other place that makes a portobello mushroom burger stuffed with molten muenster and cheddar cheese. And although I’m not the biggest fan of donuts, I’d like to try the Rainbow Connection - mostly for the Sqirl rose geranium jam.

Plan Check has a delicious stuffed double Portobello mushroom app. Can’t recall if it’s also offered in burger form. They should if it ain’t cuz it’s delicious. Add on their pickled jalapeƱos and it’s a slam dunk.

Damn, you’ve got me sold! Can’t resist portobello mushrooms. Thanks for another great recommendation, @bulavinaka!

Bring your four-legged child and try one of their house-made sodas if alcohol doesn’t work. The dish is rich, so the ā€œjalapeƱo escabecheā€ acts as a nice spicy counter. Save room for dessert.

Yes Plan Check does do the portobello mushroom in burger form, it’s not always on the menu but they will always make one for you… Just ask.

Don’t forget breaded and deep fried! All due respect to Plan Check, the Shake Shack mushroom burger is a different beast.

What are current wait times?

Do they just have a line for shakes and custard like in NYC and other locations?
