Shiba Ramen Oakland

Since they are downstairs from my office, I found out today that their soft opening is Tuesday from 4:30-9PM

1440 Broadway in Oakland

Went today for opening night. I think the addition of Danny Keiser (formerly of Camino) has been a good addition as the ramen flavor and execution is much more consistently. Ramen was pretty good and fairly filling without any of the temperature problems of the Emeryville location.

Apparently the reason why there are temperature problems at the Emeryville location (the oil and fat congeals a bit quickly and the broth gets a bid tepid temperature wise) is: A. the use of more sturdier melamine for bowls at EPM and B. the coldness of the market. The use of ceramic bowls and the coziness of the new Oakland space did help and the broth was hot throughout.

Given that the restaurant is literally downstairs from my office, I guess I know where I am eating on rainy days.
