Tried Ramen Ginza Onodera and Pasta Stories in Tokyo Central PCH this week. Ramen was nice because of the fish broth, which is different than most. Broth was nice and rich and the ramen was really good. Pasta Stories was also really good and reminded me of Spoon House.

. Also there is a New Offset Coffee in Old Torrance where Cozi Cafe used to be. It just opened yesterday.

I tried the ramen today. Conceptually I can see how it would be good, but I am generally not a fan of sweet soup bases, which is why I generally steer clear of Cambodian rice noodle soups. This had that same sweet undertone and so it ruined it for me. That said, the noodles were perfectly al dente and the broth had a deep, rich umami fish flavor that I really wanted to like.

3355 Asian Grill, a local pocha, has become a staple in our rotation. In particular, their Koren roast-fried chicken is insanely good. Crackling crisp skin, tender juicy meat (even the breast) and marinated well. I think when the mother is in the kitchen, it’s especially good! And her seafood pancake comes out the way I prefer which is fairly thin, crisp but not saturated on the outside and still soft through the middle. My kids are partial to the bacon rice cake, which is bacon-wrapped rice cake that is lightly fried.

Otafuku x little China bang bang

Otafuku best soba/psuedo Izakaya in South Bay. Their signature is their serio soba but I prefer their higher buckwheat content Zaru can’t go wrong either way though. Not pictured tempura.

Little China kanpongji with bones. Best kanpongji in LA almost tastes like Korean fried chicken with added spicy garlicky sauce and wok hei.

what is the food pic on the far left? I’m really hoping they expand the menu to more closely mimic the cerritos one!

Not exactly sure but looks like maybe crispy or soy sauce chicken? I would hope for a larger menu but if i was to bet I would imagine they are planning to keep it similar to what is on offer in torrance.

Agree. The koobideh was delicious. It reminds me of Seaside Palace (RIP).

Saw a sign that Coni’seafood may be opening up a new location just down the street from the Comedy and Magic Club in the old Encanto Colombian Restaurant.

Coni in hermosa? South Bay is really coming up!

Ugh, that would be such a major disappointment if they kept the menu similar. Although there is no crispy chicken in the Torrance location so there is hope…

I would be surprised if that “coming soon” wrap is going to be directly reflective of what the menu is one way or the other

I’ll be near Del Amo Mall tonight (Sunday). Any casual places nearby? I’m allergic to shellfish, and my dining companion isn’t crazy about fish.

We live in Boyle Heights so I feel like we eat our fill of small vendor Mexican food.

That’s great because the Mexican around Torrance sucks lol

Gaburi Chicken in old town Torrance.

Kagura also in old town Torrance.

Izakaya Hachi. Lots of different bites.

While it’s hot, the motsu nabi is stellar.

Newish gelato place in PV gold scoop gelato. Immediately jumps to number one ice cream place in the entire area. The nearest ice cream that is better is probably Kansha in Gardena

Dang, you hit some favorites today! Mango pomelo sago is our standby. But Lychee Aloe is also excellent. Just got back from Golden Scoop. Love the pistachio. My wife loves the coffee. By far the best ice cream place within a reasonable drive from our home. We also like Lozio, a newish Italian joint in RB.
