Anyone been to KRATA Thai?
The brief: Six people with no dietary restrictions (but for pineapple and mango). Low noise level and a mellow-to-semi-mellow environment. Sunday lunch.
I have a security res at Kagura but would like to hear other suggestions! Was thinking I-naba or Otafuku but closed and closed for lunch, respectively

Dang! What timing – just saw I could make a reservation at Waraku! Maybe I misremembered but its life as Wadatsumi precluded reservations.
Waraku (formerly Wadatsumi) has private rooms. It’s open for Sunday lunch.
I’m going to follow your thread. My family/ friends have the same restrictions.

Izakaya akatsuki - they make their own udon in house formerly sanuki no sato. Very quiet and also have private tatami rooms
Fukugawa very spacious, known for their grilled fish combos, Japanese breakfast, and combo bentos
Doy! Of course fukugawa!
Have you been to the akatsuki since sanuki closed?
Yes it is very similar I honestly couldn’t tell you the difference. I think the food has always been pretty good there specifically the tempura and the udon.
Went to pho Redbo for lunch! Delicious bowl of pho, sticker shock is always inevitable for me with a 20+ dollar bowl of pho but that’s probably a me problem with 2000s price mindset since everything is expensive these days. Quality of the meats and the broth make it worth it and the dearth of options in PV only adds to Redbo’s allure
Every time I see banh mi for sale at $12+ in DTLA I start back-in-my-daying about how it used to be $4
Yep that means we are getting old lol
I used to go to Banh Mi Che Cali (Brookhurst) and get their special, buy 2 get 1 free for $1.75 each … ![]()
Had a bahn mi at Che Cali the other day. It was ~$6 and shrinkflation was sad. Very little meat in the sandwich.
It was one of the top two Banh Mi places in Little Saigon. Yeah it’s bad now. I missed their BM with headcheese and Pâté. Seems hard to find a good one nowadays.
We’ve been. It’s a pretty limited menu. It’s decent Thai for the area, but the one time we were there, service was very slow so we haven’t been back.
Thanks for the report I think I’ll hold off on checking it out
Sweet Rice/Bowl Thai family might be the best Thai in the South Bay.
also a great spot to also hit up Fukagawa, Sakae, Spoon House, Jinmi, Otafuku
Ba Le is still bangin’.
I’ve also taken a liking to Carrot & Daikon for their roasted pork (heo quay) banh mi.
Have you tried Hidden Garden? i’ve been really impressed aftrer two visits
I want to try C & D but every time I am back in HB/Westminster I default to THH. I am kind of a THH loyalist
