How is Queen of Sheba vs. Fairfax Ethiopian (or Awash, which I think I like better than any of the ones on Fairfax)?
Komatsu has been on my list. Your pics look so good.
I think there was one place in NoHo that had Estilo D.F. quesdillas, but I don’t know if it’s still around. Worth the drive (from the Westside) for a taste? Filling sounds great.
Thank you! Yeah, those tacos are a really good Tire Shop backup.
I really love Queen of Sheba, and also Emma Habesha which I’ve only gotten takeout from. I think the food at these two Inglewood Ethiopian spots seem more “homemade”-like and are also a little spicier than the Fairfax spots to me, and I prefer that.
Komatsu is great. I’m mad at myself because I have driven by it pretty much every single day for the last 7 or so years they’ve been open and this is the first time I’ve tried them.
They were very good, but I don’t know if they’re worth the drive? Maybe if you’re in the area for something else you should try them. Only there on weekend evenings though. And ask for the spicy green salsa!
Top BBQ Noodle in Gardena is a new Cantonese/HK-style place that also has some Vietnamese dishes and is in soft-opening mode right now with a limited menu. We went last night for dinner and enjoyed it for the most part. There were a few minor things here and there that can be improved upon, but I don’t like to criticize newly opened restaurants. The service was great - super friendly, and the interior is nice and spacious. Definitely looking forward to going back in a few weeks or so and trying more of the menu.
The Good Life Cafe in Lomita
New fav. Great food, great people. Ask for some scotch bonnet pepper sauce with your food. Tuesday night is karaoke night which we happened upon. So fun!
Pitburger Teri burger it’s confusing because I’m used to having Teri burgers that come with a burger. This one just had beef slices, nevertheless it was delicious and will be returning and adding a burger patty next time.
“Hi yeah not to be rude but I have it on good intel from gr8pimpin and hungryhungryhippos that you do actually have a bacon bar so I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY YOU WONT TELL ME WHERE IT IS”
Make an early morning trek. I know there is a breakfast bar at the Playa Vista WF… but it has limited hours… I just saw the sign noting the hours (I’m guessing some folks at 11am where like…“Where’s da bacon?”
I’ve literally gone to Brea Whole Foods at 8:30am and the bacon is gone and not to be refilled. I have literally zero proof and I’m pretty sure he lives no where near Brea but in my mind I always blame @Gr8pimpin
FWIW, Lazy Acres is part of Bristol Farms and they also have the hot food bacon bar set up that was only available in the mornings. I’m not sure if they’ve fully brought back everything but pre-pandemic, I used to work near the one on PCH and Artesia. We used to go in around 9 am and it would be fully stocked with fresh hot bacon. But after 10 they usually stopped refilling and get it ready to turn to lunchtime foods.
Hopefully you score the posted hours are 7-11. But i was there around maybe like 840 and there was no bacon left and one piece of sausage. I asked the kitchen workers and they said they had no plans to refill bacon so I think wf is wise to the fact that ppl just go there and gorge the bacon lol.
