Otafuku - every time I go it makes me wonder why it took me so long to come back. Everything is so damn good at this restaurant. I don’t think Ive ever had anything even mediocre level at this restaurant. When I see something come out of the kitchen I want to order it lol. I think since pandemic they started offering yakitori although I’ve never tried it, it seemed very popular with many of the patrons.

Yes their beef tendon simmered in dashi is amazing. Just the right amount of chew while being fall apart tender.

I went to Borjstar again and ordered a wrap mixed with chicken and beef shawarma and it was insanely good. Each meat was sufficiently stuffed so both flavors were apparent, and the pickles they add inside is just enough yet not too overpoweringly sour. I believe they dip the rolled up wrap in chicken fat (or beef) from the shawarma to crisp it up so every bite is flavorful and crispy. Add some of their garlic sauce and hot sauce and pow, such a flavorful bite.
Also got a rotisserie chicken and it was fine, nothing too crazy in terms of flavor and it was actually a bit dry. Stick with the shawarma.

Otafuku also makes the best onigiri….ume, bonito, shiso, and baby anchovies. Lots of flavor!

nice! yeah I’m a fan of their chicken and beef/lamb shawarma. haven’t tried their chicken but will skip it based on this intel.

Me and my wife were really hungry and lucky for us we spotted this carnitas stand which is only open on Saturdays (10am - 1pm).

I like getting my carnitas “mixta” which is a bit of buche (stomach) and I think the ear? Great texture and flavor.

Anyone know what happened to W Steakhouse Gardena? I thought it just opened… we were going to make a reservation and Yelp reviews say its closed and that it’s already under new management? Seems very odd…
