Wow! Is that Katsu with Hamburg??!?
Yep! That spicy sauce is killer and I also love the pickles which seem to be made from Persian Cucumbers! Glad you liked it! They seemed to be super busy already which is a great thing.
Yes you can add multiple items to your curry order
oh nice, gonna check out Rieras
I hadn’t been to Chubby Rice in a few months, so decided to stop by today for lunch on my way back up from Orange County. Apparently, it closed some months ago and has now reopened as “Chubby Yaki” with a very different menu–not sure if the owners changed as well. It was not what I was in the mood for, so I did not stay to try it. Sad to see Chubby Rice gone as I always enjoyed my meals there.
If you like biryani, Zam Zam Foods is a great option in that area.
I like Zam Zam, but what I consider the best dish there (the lamb biryani) is only available weekends. In that area, I also like Al Noor and Al Watan for Indo-Pakistani cuisine and, of the three, probably lean toward Al Noor most often.
Torihei some outstanding bites including the stewed radish, soboro don, the negima, tomato, and tsukune yakitori and the karage.
However as a whole I still prefer hachi
I like Yellow Cow in Gardena. For SB AYCE KBBQ, I’ll usually hit up GEN in Torrance but only because it’s convenient.
New Vallarta market at Carson x Main.
If you are familiar with the Northgates in Anaheim and La Habra this Vallarta is similar with hot bar, guac station, mariscos, torta station, tortillas factory, etc.
Also any hidden gems with the dueling Filipino plazas at the same intersection?
New Vallarta is beautiful! great selection of products with more of an upscale feel.
Oh wow!! I prefer Vallarta! Can’t wait to check it out!!
I will say too they are doing a CRAZY remodel of the Northgate in Del Rey. It’s going to be really interesting to see how it shapes up (I will also say that their Birria is $10lb which is a CRAZY good deal!!)
Vallarta was so packed that people were making their own parking spaces against the outer curb. Never made it in.
Had the kanpyo maki at Nijiya. That is some pretty damn good supermarket sushi. Better than the other 2 Japanese markets. That was pretty damn surprising. Also got some ground Jidori chicken. Bought some Cream Pan white bread and kewpie for some connivence store egg salad sandwich.
Overhead a customer asking for some sushi rice. Giving me some ideas to make a big fat real California maki.
Also the clerk said I should add some mentaiko to my egg salad. I said hold up that’s genius
I’ve been told that mentaiko is an egg salad add-on that’s super popular at some spots in Japan.
Same owners.
Nijya seems to put more care into sushi than most for sure. If you go early they put out Negihama rolls as well, those don’t get replenished when they are out.
Nijiya Torrance has the best market sushi for sure.
Yes agree, I eat there almost once a week and their neta, Shari, and price are better than kura or other fast casual sushi joints
Yeah I am going to go early and check out the selection.
Normally I shy away from raw fish for supermarket sushi but I’ll make an exception for Nijiya.
