Red Rock is a no go for me. Wadatsumi, though, does pretty much everything well in my book.

I was not a big fan of Red Rock’s curry. It’s that super roasty almost black curry. Have yet to try Wadatsumi

Toto?

Definitely not lol

Isn’t it pretty rare to have non-Japanese spots to have Toto’s?

If anyone here wants a toto for home Torrance Costco is selling them lol.

King Meditterano has the highest qpr in LA County they literally stuff the box like the hood Chinese spots. There is enough food for 2 meals/people. Protip get the fries and dip them in the toum sauce (which is better than Zankou’s!!!)

thanks for the tip lol I’m gonna look out for that

OMG! Why they so salty tho! I want to love them…

For that reason recently I went to a new place in Gardena, Borjstar @Jase rec’d. For flavor I liked them better than KM…

I got the chicken, but they gave me a sample of their Beef which had a wonderful Sumac flavor. Very different from the Chicken…

My favorite thing was the rice. SUPER GOOD. It was studded with Shallots…

Not quite the QPR… and still a little salty… not as much as KM.

I didn’t find it too salty on my two visits but I’ll check for that again next time. the rice is really good there!

Pretty good bagels! Not quite a full service bagel shop like in NYC if that is your expectation.

I don’t think they slice and fill an individual bagel. I saw BEC and lox. Didn’t see a flattop and I am not sure where the lox is from. Just said lox and pickled onions. Plain or scallion cream cheese that I think is made in house. No need to toast as the exterior has a decent crunch. Not sure how often they bake but at 730am the display cases were not filled to the brim. My bagels were a little warm. Rip and dip on the spot if that is the case. The coffee definitely ain’t cafe bustelo

Had the plain, everything, cheddar hot honey, and rosemary olive oil. Rosemary was my least favorite of the 4.

Wadatsumi is jumping up my list of casual places to grab Japanese lunch along with ichimi an, Otafuku and komatsu.

Special bowl seafood was once again stellar except for the exception of the uni. Curry super dark almost had the flavor cross between curry, demi glacé, and jjangmyeon. Pairs very well with rice.

Not pictured roast beef bowl while not medium rare (like the menu) but more medium it was tongue meltingly tender and the sweet soy ladled into the rice was highly bingeable. grilled yellowtail collar was a great fish of the day.

Also their chawanmushi was so soft and custardy maybe the best in the city and a huge surprise.

Just tried this place and it was really tasty. The Arabic chicken shawarma was so flavorful and I loved the spicy sauce to go along with the garlic sauce. The lamb kapsolon was also tasty, sort of like Syrian “carne asada” fries with that fatty lamb flavor coming through.

Was going to order a rotisserie chicken but they were about 1.5 hours til ready, will try soon as it looks amazing.

Thanks for the heads up! Definitely adding it to the rotation.

Just had another killer early dinner here, so much variety on that menu. New to me from here tonight was a very refined takowasa (with wasabi leaves and stems), perfectly fried/greaseless menchi katsu, and a really satifsying Hitsumabushi rice broth situation with some type of confit’d brisket beef. Love this place.
