3 per day damn
I’m told sawa will be omakase only manned by anthony-san and then turns into a bar with drinks at 930.
review forthcoming?
damn. did they give you a side of nori too?
No. I didn’t even think to ask. Sawa looks cool though, i peaked in
Then you got yourself to-go order of saba battera.
#DoNotEatTheBambooLeaf
Oh interesting. In a sit down setting I’ve had it with nori but when i got takeout from sushi yoshizumi they didn’t include nori either and it was listed as Saba Bou Zushi
That said I would never pretend to be knowledgeable when it come sushi
the bo in bozushi just refers to the shape, rod, and literally means rod-shaped sushi. it doesn’t require nori, that’s just how I like to eat it. and I think a fairly recent thing.
battera is a type of box or pressed sushi.
Apparently it will be a bit delayed in opening compared to what they’d hoped for–I think they’re looking at June–lots of May festivals in Japan have slowed the supply chain somewhat.
Anthony-san’s absence from Kaneyoshi on my most recent visit was sorely felt (I guess he’s busy with Sawa preps now). He was such a strong presence behind the sushi bar, and he and Yoshi-san worked so well together. But this latest visit, it felt like something was missing–the vibe was different, I didn’t feel like we got as many dishes, and there were fewer that blew me away. The assistants just seemed like helpers, not partners. Still a good experience, but not like when Anthony-san was there, especially my previous visit in April, which hit it out of the ball park. I’d be curious to know if anyone else has had the same feeling.
Where did Anthony San go?
he’s going to be the sergio at bar sawa next door
is this the first published review of kaneyoshi? where’s the bladdison?
can’t get a reservation?
How does Michelin Inspector get reservation for places like Hayato?
can we blame @lafoodie for this one too? @PorkyBelly
Continuing to rib someone for past “transgressions” on a public forum reeks of bullying, regardless of if it is done in a lighthearted manner. Continuing to call attention to and tagging someone in that way is sophomoric, in my personal opinion. @hppzz trying to feel like an insider by repeating the same “joke” is so basic.
It may be fun for @PorkyBelly and a few others, but I personally view it as lowbrow.
Just to end on topic, Kaneyoshi is bookable pretty regularly outside of regular release if you monitor their IG account and look for cancellations.
I blame @PorkyBelly
