Tesla drive-in: threat or menace

Getting elected.

This take is kooky. Just because someone is democratically elected does not mean everything they do from then on is fine and dandy. And, as a side note, minimizing Margarita’s role in Republique to “the chef’s wife” shows how far you are stretching to make your position seem reasonable.

You may think the current administration’s actions have been fine and dandy, but I’m certain you could be forced to admit that the bare act of winning an election does not insulate all one’s future actions (and one’s supporters, by proxy) from boycott or attack.

Shit response, false analogy to your original point.

Maybe if she was otherwise un affiliated but she’s an owner and the pastry Chef of Republique no one is canceling her but no one has to support her view points by eating there either if they find them repellent.

In addition to what everybody else is saying, buying a Tesla currently is a sign to support somebody who isn’t elected by anybody but currently acts without any significant limitations. Many of these actions are starting to get at least in the first rounds of lawsuits being called out by judges as unconstitutional
Also, she is supporting somebody like Charly Kirk who is open racist with his comments about black pilots etc

Kooky is truly rich from the dude who runs a Fight Club-esque split personality account. Micah I could not have less respect for your arrogant, rich kid trolling on here. Though this post unfortunately reads as genuine, there’s, as always, little reason to engage on the merits.

wasnt everyone’s politics here made abundantly clear during the 2020-2022 covid restriction era? i feel like the only people to be angry at are sam sifton and the nytimes trolling the LA restaurant scene for someone to make exactly this type of comment

Normally im a little irked when we split up threads for tangents because I lose track of the discussion.

Then I remember it relegates Peonywarrior’s trolling to its own corner of this forum.

I don’t agree with his politics but I do appreciate his food commentary. It’s good or at least fine that we all don’t agree with each other

Amen. A friend a few mos ago was like, “What about Republique when we next meet up?” And I was like, “Ummm…”

Wait, really? I think that might the most shocking thing I’ve heard all year.

Nice find!

I son’t buy Warrior as Micah Zehnder’s latest pseud. Among other things their taste in wine doesn’t match.

This is fairly conclusive and I thought was common knowledge on here since '22.

In my view, being so certain in your beliefs that you won’t dine at a restaurant where the chef holds different beliefs is crazy. We aren’t talking about outlier beliefs here. They are the winning beliefs in a nationwide election. I don’t recall right-wingers boycotting restaurants of people who voted for Biden or Obama, but I would have called those people crazy too.

Adherence to one political party is proof of failure to think for oneself. Issues like transgender rights, the size of the federal government, Israel vs. Gaza, climate change, DEI, immigration, and tariffs have little to nothing to do with each other.

not only is it not “crazy,” but choosing not to give someone money just because you happen to dislike them is a core part of being an american

It’s the personal dislike part that I find troubling. Manzke is a nice guy in my experience. What you seem to be saying is that you personally dislike half the country due to their viewpoints. That, I think, is crazy.

Im not intolerant of them because of their different beliefs. I wish them nothing but success. I’m making a choice to take my business elsewhere. Because I have options.

And the false equivalency between people who think that trans people should have less rights and me not wanting to eat a pastry is fucking stupid. One is intolerant. One is consumer choice.

Gosh, it seems radical to choose businesses based on the owner’s political affiliation, but it’s your right.

This is not the America I remembered.
