there’s a new peking duck option from our very own @hppzz aka ravenouscouple aka the führer of fowl aka that peking duck guy. i got to try out his new peking duck takeout meal he’s working on and it’s delicious. he does the whole air pump thing and ages it for 10 days before roasting it his backyard oven. the skin is thin and crispy throughout and even held up on the car ride home. the duck fat noodles with a soy-vinegar sauce that he mixes the carcass meat with is really addicting and just as good as the skin. there’s also a comforting, fragrant duck soup. the breast meat was slightly over but that should be easily fixable.
i’ll be trying his duck catering event soon, review forthcoming.
Thanks for stopping by and trying it. Why am I not suprised you’re able to finish the entire duck, noodles, and soup, designed to feed 4, all by yourself
Local pick ups in South Pasadena—we have pop ups open to the public about once a month —but those sell out quick. @PorkyBelly special orders—if I can cobble together 4-5 orders then it possible to do special order. Meal kits for guitar duck comes with duck fat rice, veggies and duck broth soup. Peking duck meal kits come with duck fat noodles and soup. Follow on IG and dm me there. Thanks!
Ok. First, I love pipa ya, it’s probably my favorite version of roast duck. Second, that looks amazing. But third, and perhaps most importantly, I never knew why it was called “pipa” until you called it guitar duck and was like, holy s–t, it’s the instrument pipa, lol. Learn something new every day!
Been eyeing this ever since @hppzz made his duck account and wow it is delicious. I haven’t tried bistro na duck (and that’s technically a different style) but this might be my favorite duck prep in town. The duck skin is crispy but the meat is generally juicy and very flavorful. I enjoyed it over Ji Rong (though also a different style).
Pick ups from South Pasadena. It travels pretty well and tasted great even an hour later (I stopped for a coffee on the way home haha). I had a bite while he was carving it up for me and it was so juicy and flavorful just out of the oven thing.
Kit came with some nice gai lan, a duck fat rice, and a very nice duck soup. The sauce is a good complement especially as the richness dominates and goes quite well with the rice to boot. I think this would be adequate for a family of four as advertised (especially considering the natural oil and fat in the duck). Absolutely recommended.
