The Drunk, Stoned, and Hungry thread

I agree on all counts regarding taste and spiciness. I still have a bottle of Huy Fong (and a bottle of Tabasco Sriracha - not bad, but not great) that my wife prefers, but I’m reaching for the Underwood now.

Western Bacon Cheeseburger still needs a thread :eyes:

I owe a lot of my bulk to these. I remember when they were first introduced when I was a kid, and I couldn’t get enough. Years later when I was a construction superintendent, the Harbor/Imperial location was an almost-daily stop at 5:00 AM for my WBC breakfast fix. Carl’s has lost more than a step in quality over the years, or maybe it’s just my changing taste (probably both), but the WBC seems to have maintained its quality better than many of their other offerings.

I got a WBC delivered a couple weeks ago. For some reason they don’t allow you to add any sauces on the side in the app, so I marked “Extra BBQ Sauce” for the burger itself. Also got extra onion rings on it.

The abomination I got must have been a prank from whoever made it. The burger could hardly stay together with the amount of BBQ sauce they added. I ate it because of edibles :joy: Was still delicious.

Yeah. The last one I had like it has to be 10 years ago… the patty was just awful. Woody and overly salty. It just screamed precooked awfulness. Imma stick my under rated and oh so awesome Whooper…

I haven’t been to a Carl’s since I moved to the PHX area, but my wife said the one she went to in Tucson was actually pretty good (I am NOT driving 2 hours for a WBC!). Not doing much fast food anymore, but we have a Culver’s close to the house, and we’re really enjoying that when the urge hits.

WBC is imo one of the best styles of burger. I am not sure if Carls invented that style but I love it. My high school had them delivered to us for lunch lol I can’t eat like a teenager anymore.

@Dommy agree Whoppers are underrated. I haven’t had BK in decades but I always loved the char with the super fresh raw onion/tomato/lettuce/pickles. For so reason BK’s veggies were always so good. I remember when whoppers were 99 cents and my mom would buy us like 10-15 to last thru the week lol

2 for 3 whopper deals were the best!

the key to the whopper is going in store and asking for it fresh off the charbroiler. makes a world of difference from a re heated patty

That’s the key to getting improved quality for just about any fast food – “Cooked to Order”, as opposed to “Assembled to Order”. At BK (and McD!), that’s especially important with their fish sandwiches, as those patties tend to sit around congealing for a while. It’s less of an issue when it’s busy and you’re ordering a more popular item. I remember McD’s when everything was cooked to order – that changed in the early nineties, IIRC.

I was going to put this in the fast food thread but I think it’s more appropriate here.

God bless Jack.
