using your yelp āfirst reportā logic itās still been open for 19 days before the eater article reported 3 weeks.
We know for sure they were open on 1/14 and closed on 1/29, but for all I can tell they might have been closed for a week or more by then.
If they were only open a week, that would help explain why there arenāt more Yelp reviews.
Itās certainly a bizarre thing for Fleischman to quibble about. If they were open for only one week rather than three, thatās worse.
It isnāt all that pivotal to the discussion but, I donāt know, the few Yelp reviews I read kinda seemed like they could have been written by someone hyping the place and not necessarily having eaten there. Just my 2Ā¢. People do that for friends and associates to kickstart a place on social media and places like Yelp. Or am I being too cynical???
Some sure could be, especially the one whoās never written another review. The āEliteā one looks legit.
I worked personally with Fleeceman and can confirm he supports his lifestyle by opening concepts and spending that money on himself.
Heās being sued by prior business partners for exactly that reason. Fraud and embezzlement listed on those legal docs.
He can come up with ideas but has no ability to execute. Employees think heās a nightmare to work with. His Yamashiro concept had to come to an end due to off-color comments he made to staff.
Investors stay awaaaay. Bad news all around.

Suddenly I want some fava beans and a nice Chianti.
it places the money in the basket
Welcome to FTC! Thanks for sharing that. I too love your name! Please do share if you like fava beans and a nice Chianti
The fire is out because AF is a nightmare to work with. Training was nonexistent. For 10 days staff came in and did little more than endure AFās casual misogyny, racism and condescension. No food or wine was tasted, menu specs were forbidden to protect AFās chefly secrets, and then he would berate employees for not knowing what was in a dish or what wine to pair with a meal. First day of service was January 13 and almost half the staff had already quit. At the time of their āgrand openingā there were no server pads, check books, polishing rags, uniforms, etc. AF was more interested in using the restaurant to peacock than he was in running a successful, legitimate business. He would bring in different women night after night. He and his heavily intoxicated lady friend would inevitably be the last āguestsā in the restaurant and when the bill was finally dropped because employees needed to get off the clock, AF would always comp the check, taking money out of the businessā pocket presumably to increase his own prospects of getting laid. Literally not a single person who worked there could stand AF. Staff was told to hang in there because AF would be gone and on to his next venture soon. Last day of service was Jan. 21st, but staff was not informed until 3 days later that the restaurant was no more. This is all just the tip of the iceberg, much of his abhorrent behavior was truly something you had to see to believe.
Ouch.
Welcome to FTC!
ooof. seems like AF is more worthy of Eater LA exposeā¦
So the place was open nine days. Bizarre.
Trust that @matthewkang and @FarleyElliott are going to follow up on this new information?
Hey all. I wonāt be discussing here further, just know that we donāt publicly comment on possible, theoretical, or ongoing editorial efforts on the site, regarding potential stories about or including Adam Fleischman or anyone else. Getting a story of magnitude over the finish line journalistically and legally is a high bar (as it should be); some stories come together over years, or take different shapes, or never make it in their full intent into the light of day.
Appreciate the info, and keep up the conversations. I may not always be able to help, but FTC is a great resource for folks who care about restaurants and the industry.
Thanks for the comments.
Fact-free wasnāt fair from that Fleischman fucker - you do a great job!
