New-ish ramen spot on Shattuck. I was enticed by the much-better-than-average reviews and short menu.
Charming entry from inside the alleyway, just off the street.
Spicy Tori Paitan
Chicken chashu was super tender, maybe the best I’ve had. I briefly mistook the bamboo shoots for mushrooms (texturally), very good. Great broth. Good hakata noodles. Properly jammy egg.
Much better than the other ramen spots I’ve tried in Berkeley; easily tied with the best spots I was familiar with in LA (maybe even a smidge better). Surprisingly I could’ve eaten a bit more after I was done; usually doesn’t happen with ramen.
