Booked. I mean, could it really be bad?

Udatsu himself should be here this week for dinners. Not sure how long he’s staying tho

Looking forward to reviews. Price seems reasonable. Reservations are wide open right now. But, sadly, no online mechanism for anything but even-numbered parties. Solo diners or three-somes would need to contact the restaurant by email to see if anything can be arranged.

Hmmm, mostly seems a little bit more of the same and a lot of Tuna but hopefully they can get a little weird compared to how it reads on paper

Well, they got right back to me re: a request for solo dining, so I’ll give it a try.

Udatsu-san has already gone back to Tokyo, but please report back!

Anyone familiar with the Tokyo original? What style/inspiration or anything?

Did get a sneak peek from an industry insider:

Toto.

I have been to the tokyo one. It was a solid, tourist friendly sushi spot in tokyo. I will say the aging/smoking and a lot of vegetables utilized in the cooking were the hooks

Having some issues with uploading so not everything got loaded in.

Run don’t walk to Udatsu - $225 is a steal for what’s being served. We also did 6 extra bonus pieces which range anywhere from $14-28

The texture play in the dishes here are unlike anything in LA. Lot of chew on the pieces and a very aggressive shari which I very much enjoyed. Generous draping cuts.

The ending tuna roll was incredible. I could eat a whole one by myself

Any news/info on this, from a Google review?

“Food is okay. However, they charge you 20% service during booking. Then at restaurant they charge you additional 20% tip. So you basically pay 40% tip for it. Wow!”

Will run and not walk! Thanks for the review @Clayfu !

Whoever wrote this might be dumb as a rock

Your tock reservation is for the omakase right? 20% service charge.

Then when you get a bill at the end of the night that’s minus the omakase prepay - then you can add your own tip for anything extra you paid.

Here’s our receipt
