Planning a going away party for a member of my team who’s vegan and I’m not getting anywhere finding a place to order a cake / cupcakes she can actually eat (I’ll probably order something non-vegan as well for the rest of the crew). Santa Monica / Venice / MDR vicinity preferred, or someplace that will deliver to Santa Monica. Thank you!

There are a couple of options on the Westside, incl one in Venice. Haven’t tried any myself.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’m discovering that vegan tends to get combined with gluten free, and I’m generally not a fan of gluten free baked goods. The hunt continues!

I met this baker at popup in a book store in Echo Park (A Good Used Book). She makes delicious vegan cakes.

Not in your neck of the woods, but got a vegan pumpkin cake from Bakers Bench that was not too pricey and impressed vegans and non vegans alike.
Not in your preferred area, but we’ve enjoyed the vegan cupcakes - Vegan Boston Banana and Vegan Chocolate Orange - from Lark Cake Shop in Silver Lake.

There is an Urth Caffe in Santa Monica. Urth Caffe online menu includes a vegan chocolate cake, a vegan pie and vegan cookies. I’ve had the cake (not recently, when I lived in SaMo). I remember it was really pretty good.
They also have plenty of non-vegan cakes and pies and baked goods.
Sprinkles has vegan red velvet cupcakes and cakes.
This is informational only. I haven’t tried them and haven’t eaten Sprinkles cupcakes in 15 years.
Thanks everyone for all the suggestions! Urth Café looked promising but unfortunately I was too late for their pre-order window for whole cakes. I ended up going to Top Tier Treats (formerly Jamaica’s Cakes, on Pico in West LA) as their vegan items get good reviews and they have both regular and vegan cupcakes available every day, no pre-order required. It was a good choice - delicious, traditional cupcakes, and imo the vegan were as good as the dairy version.
