Damn nobody told me they were frying garlic on top of their chicken. I need to check this place out!
Does Thailand even have Michelin yet? Reviewers are way too scared to head out there…
nahm (think: the original Pok Pok, ie., white people cooking Thai food). next to Tim Ho Wan, nahm’s lunch prix fixe seems to be the cheapest (1500 baht, about $47 with service fee) on the planet to knock out a Michelin 1-star meal. Not that I GAF about Michelin *s, but… just FYI.
Hmm, so the London incarnation of Nahm had a star, but I don’t think the Bangkok one does… I don’t think Michelin has actually been there yet.
Gosh, Tim Ho Wan is really good though.
my bad. I just assumed. Shame on me for not following closely.
Dreadful, from my observations on my last visit there in 2013.
Pork buns 11/10, the rest of the menu just average. Those damn pork buns were so good I stopped by THW for pork buns 3x on a 36 hour layover.
Agree about the tasty pork buns. But just having one good dish should not garner a Michelin Star for the entire eatery…
No arguments here. I wouldn’t wait in that line again, but I’ll go back for pork buns every time ![]()
Wow, that looks really fucking good from Boo’s.
i still have a soft spot for the cheeze whiz steaks and hoagies and french fries dipped in what else but some more fucking cheese whiz from Philly West.
and there’s a full bar.
i like provolone better than wiz myself–a lighter texture than wiz and I think it tastes better w/ onions (and mushrooms).
Ok, I’ll grant you that.
but I just can’t, I can’t bear to hit up my cheesesteak with fucking white Amercian cheese.
travesty
Hmm, I was there in 2011. Perhaps things change quickly?
I still have to try Philly West!
FYI, you can get the whiz cheesesteaks at Boo’s and here are some whiz and steak covered fries we had.
Oops wrong month…
Good buns but… if THW deserves a Michelin star just for those, then so does Kam Fung (just around the corner sorta) for its dan taat:
At least THW was cheaper than dimsum at Sung Tung Lok (WTFBBQ I want my money back)
I’ll have to check it out next time if possible.
For the places I’ve tried, Honolulu Coffee Shop > Tai Cheong
Please post some fucking addys so I can Google these dan tat joints.
