Westside Happy Hour

Looking to celebrate the bday for happy hour today somewhere in Venice/Samo… anything new out there to consider, feel like we go to the same ol’ spots everytime!

Shirube and also Xuntos!

@KAS Funnily enough I was looking up happy hour spots about an hour ago. In my research I came across the happy hour at Vito’s on Ocean Park, which appears to be one of the best happy hour deal on the westside. I just arrived, will report back after. $12 pastas, $10 appetizers $10 cocktails, $6 beers. Here’s their happy hour menu.

Other good westside happy hours:

@J_L does the Xuntos happy hour include food? When I came across it online earlier, the posted happy hour menu I looked at only listed drinks.

If you’re looking for great value, try Diner Antonette on Wilshire before 7pm for 50% off all drinks. They have a pretty solid spirits collection for a happy hour. Great spot to grab a couple cocktails before having a much better meal at Rustic Canyon.

If you want a bite, try the fried fish sandwich and sub fries for the salad if they let you. Everything else I’ve tried on the menu has been on the scale of bad to meh.

Best Happy Hour in town is Birdie G’s, but you have one week left to enjoy it.

Vito used to be the best, but the new owners have made a mess of things there, it’s not the same cozy, happy, enjoyable place. Pasta comes out claggy, often inedible. Alcohol used for HH drinks is the lowest of the low shelf.

Chez Jay has a good HH. Charcoal has a fantastic HH, but good luck getting a seat. The Galley, too. One of the best is Dear Jane’s, but it’s not cheap like other HH’s, it’s just solid and well priced.

After doing Vito happy hour last night, can certainly attest that it was uneven. The pasta was thankfully not claggy, but it was apparent that it was not made with the same level of attention as the full-priced dishes. Still decent though. Completely agree that the liquor was undrinkable. Still not a bad deal, I would just stick to beer & wine next time.

Birdie G’s is a great happy hour but the food selection is super limited - only 2 real dishes.

Citrin is also good for food and drinks

Don’t bother with their house wine at Vito - even more undrinkable than the HH liquor.

How does this rank for a happy hour these days? Orla seems to be a nice space by the beach

Sunset Sips Menu | Orla Santa Monica

I miss the Loews $5 at 5:00 Happy Hour. Haven’t been to the Regent, yet. But, across the street, at Sol Agave - there’s a fantastic Happy Hour. I had a friend in town staying at Viceroy and we wandered in for a margarita ($8) that was perfect, and their salsa was out of this world.

Great find! I never think of this spot and live close by- will give it a try soon!

The best happy hour (quality wise at least) not just on the westside of LA, but in all of LA, is at Rustic Canyon.

Is there anywhere on the west side that has a half decent steak on a happy hour menu?

STK has one but that doesn’t pass the half decent test.

I don’t think you’re going to find anything on the west side.

non-steak happy hour at Gaucho Grill (Brentwood)…

Closest Gaucho Grill appears to be in Pasadena maybe there used to be one in Brentwood? They have filet mignon sliders so that’s fairly close to what I’m looking for!

Gaucho Grill on San Vicente in Brentwood closed in 2018 lol

Pretty cursed location, turning into Neighborly soon.

There’s nothing about the physical location that’s particularly suboptimal, but yea it’s cursed to some degree.

Neighborly should open very soon. They were doing employee training today.

Has anyone been to the Westlake Village location? Is it low quality ghost kitchen slop or have they actually cracked the code for a multi concept kitchen?

Petit steak frites at Charcoal is small, as the name states, but very good.

Charcoal and Dear Jane’s both have a steak frites that’s very good.
