What’s the deal with chicken wings?

We got a new air fryer/toaster oven a month ago but I haven’t seen any chicken wings in our local chain supermarkets in all that time. All other parts were available but no wings. Will I have to wait ‘til Super Bowl Sunday?

Same here. The only place we are able to find wings consistently are at Costco. They are labeled party wings and come in individual packages of 6 that you can cut and freeze.

Do you have a Whole Foods near you? They carry wings.

I haven’t seen chicken wings at the Brea Whole Foods in months. Asked the meat department and they said they haven’t been getting them in lately. Maybe each WF has different procurement.

If you consider local chains like 99 Ranch and Vallarta, I’ve seen wings there.

We have two Whole Foods and three Costcos within 15 minutes. With Christmas in the rear view Costco is a possibility again. Thanks for the suggestions.

Apparently wholesale prices for wings have gone way up and buyers are resisting.

try yakitori-style chicken with boneless dark meat sliced into bite sized pieces. simple marinade of dark soy, rice wine, garlic powder, a little sugar if you don’t have mirin. my instant vortex does them in 2 minutes at 400. you can go crispier, but it’s a trade off of juiciness.

The reason has been documented on the internet.

Thanks for the valuable intel

Sprouts in Brea almost always has them at like 3 to 4 dollars per lb.

I go to marconda in the farmers market.

They must because the Sherman Oaks Whole Foods had plenty of wings today.

I get them from either Sprouts or Costco. Costco has both the fresh kind and the frozen ones.
