Wolfsglen in Westwood

Has anyone tried this place? I’m setting up another work event (but for 30 guests, rather than 200) and looking for a nice-ish dinner place in Westwood Village w/ a private room. Wolfsglen looks nice in photos…

I have been. It was a while ago, but I remember the dishes ranged from good to quite good. The restaurant was fairly empty on a weekend night, though, which didn’t lend to the best atmosphere. It is a nice space and it being empty (if that’s still the case) probably won’t matter as much if you are in a private room.

Tried to submit an event inquiry on the webpage; the webpage does have a confirmation message.

Tried to call multiple times just now, and the call drops each time. Might stop by over the weekend just to check…

Went once. Moving on.

I went about a year ago. It was decent but not remarkable. The decor/ambiance really turned off one of my dining companions. It is kind of an odd spot. I think you can do better.

Violet Bistro? They have a private upstairs area where they do cooking classes.

You can do a buyout of Lulu at the Hammer - probably seat around 30 people

Has anyone been since the chef changed? Maybe I should check myself this weekend.

I love Lulu. Even if we could afford to buyout the whole restaurant, I don’t think the space has panels that can separate it from the rest of the courtyard, except for the bar area. B/c of the nature of the event, we need to have an area that’s separated fairly well so that random passerby can’t easily hear the conversation.

No, I haven’t been to Violet since the chef left, but I have looked at the menu and it looks the same. I know very little about the restaurant business, but I would think a place of this caliber would be able to maintain consistency of a static menu after a chef leaves - but, i’m just speculating.

On a lark, I decided to ask Lulu’s if they have a private dining room. They do! It’s WAY above our budget, but in case this info is helpful for someone else in the future… The interior private dining room seats 40.

Woah, that’s good to know, in case I win the lottery.

What was the per person cost they quoted you?

They didn’t provide a cost per person. The only pricing information in the message was, “The cost for this [I had asked for a private dining area] is $7500 and can seat up to 40 guests.”

I had looked at the Hammer event sales PDF, and I think one area was listed at $7500 simply for the rental, separate and apart from food (IIRC). Not sure if the Lulu message was referring to the same space and pricing (meaning $7500 for rental alone).

It’s probably a $7500 F&B minimum. That much just for the room would be atrocious. Thanks for sharing!

Agree with @J_L … went once and moved on before we were even finished with dinner. Food and drink were both not good. Would not recommend, personally.

Thanks for the responses, all.

Our event can use one room on campus, so we are now looking at catering (and have contacted… Fundamental LA! Didn’t know they have switched to catering).

For all you Bruins from the days of yore, that restaurant space used to be home to Moustache Cafe, where the best Grand Marnier souffles in L.A. were served…

My wife said she use to go there for souffles occasionally after a long day of class.
