I’ve had many meals here and introduce a few people to “real” Chinese food. I’ll stand by this Din Tai Fung has introduced many people to “real” Chinese food. As a Chinese-American it makes me happy to see people of all ages and races enjoying there meal. I’ll tell you what as a kid growing up in SE LA County and SGV never would I thought I’d see tables full of non-Chinese people eating Taiwanese-Shanghainese food.
Sad day. I remember going there many times before they opened up the 2nd location right behind the OG. Would try to get into the 1st seating then go bet the ponies at Santa Anita. That seems like ages ago and something I wish I could do now.
Gatten Sushi in Monterey Park reopened yesterday for dine-in. Capital Seafood in Monterey Park has reopened (the takeout annex had opened previously). 101 Noodle Express in Arcadia seems to be permanently closed. The Monterey Park branch of 101 Noodle Express is still closed with no indication if they’re reopening.
Not too surprised. Though their prices were reasonable, the food wasn’t at the level of Boston Lobster or Newport Seafood. It’s seems to empty out by 7pm on weekends.
Word’s going around that King Hua in Alhambra may have shuttered as well as their outgoing phone message said they’re closed through May…
Looks like they are taking over the Panasia space which was a terribly ill-defined concept on a weird part of Garfield (although Saigon Eden and Borneo have no issue with being on that block).
I never knew the Atlantic location was only 13yrs old, coulda sworn it was around longer than that. That entire building is a ghost town though so I can see why they would wanna relocate to a area of SGV with better foot traffic.
For the more sophisticated boba tea drinker! A big opening for the Taiwanese here. This is more of my style than say the other big drink newbie in Rowland with those tiger stripes lol. Same plaza as Mian SG. This area alone probably has a dozen drink shops from here to Focus Plaza.
