Year of the snake (pastry popup)- berkeley

pastry popup on sundays at morell’s bakery off carleton (https://www.instagram.com/yearofthesnakefoods/?hl=en)

i think they make the best egg tarts in the bay area by a decent margin (exluding golden gate bakery, which ive yet to manage to try). their other products are also all pretty outstanding. the baker, Patty Lu, formerly baked for Tartine and also roy’s pannetone, and i would consider Y.O.T.S. just as worthy of visiting as Tartine, and also worth crossing a bay area bridge for

Korean army stew focaccia!

I’ve tried the YOTS Portuguese egg tart, and it was good. I haven’t been to Golden Gate since 2015.

YOTS is right around the corner from Third Culture Bakery.

I also recommend La Noisette (French for hazelnut), though on weekends they’re at the Kentfield Farmers’ Market (not too far away). They have a great pistachio croissant with strawberries.

Yeah, that was the #1 result. Just thought it was funny what Yelp’s algorithm came up with for similar businesses.
