Was at World Market (Westwood just south of Santa Monica Blvd.) and noticed a sign for Zhangliang Malatang.

This might be the Mainland Chinese chain that opened up by USC last year, so it would not be surprising to see them also open near UCLA. I remember at the time they had branches in other Chinese communities but not including the West San Gabriel Valley, which seemed to me they were seeking areas with less competition. The USC branch was fairly reasonable (for college student budgets) and unremarkable.
