if it’s still remotely the same price as a few years ago (i vaguely remember something like $75 for 8 or so tacos), i thought it was a very good deal

We like Mizlala’s salads. We probably order them once a month for delivery. They do a nice job with the chicken and salmon.

I don’t like Mian. The noodles are overcooked to my tastes.

Two more coming to the 'hood.

Anyone hear any Maydan movement/rumblings? I run by it a few times a week but not seeing any action…

Maydan Market will have a Thai BBQ place from the Holy Basil team, sounds great! Looks like it opens today

Maydan has been involved with Wonder, a ghost kitchen, in the NYC metropolitan area that opened up 50+ locations in a year or 2. I know that their flagship DC restaurant lost their star, maybe they’re doing too much at once? The classic opportunity cost of making more $$ versus quality.

Either way, this LA project from Maydan is exciting!

Where is Maydan located?

The chicken is amazing. But it may take them a beat to get the timing right. They finished them on these clay BBQs which seemed to take a bit to get the chicken cooked just right, so please be patient for a little bit.

Went to a friends and neighbors tasting this weekend.…

I just had to try a few things from them. Chicken and Rice. And Shrimp Balls. They had one or two other dishes I believe. And these dishes may not be reflective of portion.

You can buy similar fluffy pita at Whole Foods. It’s from Angel Bakery. At the one in West Adams, you can find it stocked at the soup bar. On the high shelf above the soup kettles.

Yes!! The first picture is the Compass Rose part. That is where you get their crazy gooey Khachapuri. I didn’t get on the preview night because it was just two of us but it looked as good as the ones I’ve had at their DC restaurant.

The second is the seating area for the food stalls. There are stalls in front and Elena’s Tamale Stall is in the back. They previewed their Green Pozole which I HAD to get. They also will eventually offer their red which a friend was raving about.

The third picture is the front of the Maydan Seating. Which is why reservations are recommended. We had a tucked away two top (which was fine) but noticed most were two or four tops. I wonder how they will handle large parties, which their menu will accommodate.

our two favorite bites of the night were the Scallops and the Carrots. Again, this was in preview. I have no idea of final portion size (the one for carrots was kinda crazy large).

This weekend’s trip is about the Khachapuri and perhaps a few more bites from the stalls.

Ordering system unnecessarily complicated for the food hall but my meal from Lugyah was quite great today

Complicated how? Is it centralized ordering and then distributed to a specific vendor or something like that? As long as it’s easier than the Gjusta system…

You can order on a QR code for all the restaurants but there is no system to let you know when your order is ready or where to get it (like the lugyah pickup is at the hearth but not their counter, but the drink I ordered was at their counter and I had to ask for it)

Apparently you can order at the individual vendors but there’s no visible POS / ordering station: they just need better signage tbh

It depends on when you go and how you order.

There is a central order system. A lot of folks use that to just put in an order across all the restaurants. The thing is, you have to go get them. They send notification its ready, but you are getting up and down a bit.

It seems like at least some of the places, you can order at the counter. Maybe counter ordering is more for slower times. Not sure if you can Lugy’ah as that is the one place I haven’t ordered from yet (BUT soon! They are hustling and putting out some amazing food!!) but I know you can at the “Holy Basil” stand.

Again, it depends on your preference. I actually wish there was a universal order system like this at Grand Central Market. But know that some folks would also hate it.
