Anajak Thai (Sherman Oaks)?

Yeah, typically I’ve showed up before 5:30 if possible otherwise the line can be quite long. Moreso if it’s a collab/special menu

Still invite only?

No

120 pp min on dorsia for TTT is steep. But then again I’m not drinking rn so maybe that’s why I think it is

I arrive before 5PM and I’m good to go.

Went last night to lighten the mood and it was either an off night or I do not get the hype.

Carabineros - the server said these were barely cooked but they came out lukewarm and honestly didn’t have that much flavor for carabineros. The 5 garnishes on the side didn’t really help much either

Tom yum fumet - this was good but also didn’t taste that much more special than any other good tom yum

Panang Curry - same as above, not that much different than any other thai spot swap some farmers market veggies. Also so heavy after 3 bites it was hard to eat because of the high level of coconut cream

Wok vegetables - Nothing special and pretty oily, could not taste any flavor or wok hei besides oil and oyster sauce

Also they had no dessert? I don’t know the last time I’ve been at a restaurant where they said they had nothing for dessert.

It was fine but for the cost ~$160 with NO drinks, I will be going to Jitlada/thai town.

Does that mean the standard menu now includes the more creative tasting menu takes? Never felt I fully understood their multi-menu concept.

my review

still some of the best veggie preps in town. I love eating here. I consistently have great experiences here which always surprises me when people don’t like it. Maybe the accolades & price have people coming in wanting to dislike it.

Good ingredients are expensive. If you want cheap thai food just go to thai town.

i think it’s two things: (1) expectations are too high, and (2) people order wrong. if you order seafood and veggies, you’re going to have a great meal – there aren’t very many meals in LA better than the sea bream, cabbage, bok choy, eggplant curry, and your pick of rice or noodles.

Honestly, one of the great combos in LA is holding the sauce from the crudo and having it with the sizzling steak with sticky rice.

They dumped the white rice onto the sizzling plate to get all the goodies. Pro move

Personally I’m a sucker for the hot sauce that comes with the fried chicken.
