yes, and the ziti is overcooked as fuck. It sounds bad but if the right place does it (Carmine’s in Williamsburg w/ the ziti in vodka sauce) it achieves a type of stoner food excellence.
Paisanos in hermosa does a very good baked ziti slice. At least to my hazy youth recollections
Oh, that sounds like it could be tasty (on top of a pizza in overcooked form). If the ziti is a bit crispy, it’s make a nice textural contrast.
exactly - but almost all places that do it in NYC don’t really nail the crispy edge bit (save for a few mostly in Brooklyn). Again, to be procured only very late at night when only max carbs can save you from the next morning.
We need a “Ziti Pizza: Threat or Menace” thread.
Or maybe pasta covered pizza. Mulberry Street has lasagna pizza.
Japanese has yakisoba inside a bun for more carb on carb action lol
Roman pizza has potato for some Italian carb on carb
Zelos has/had a potato pizza that I tried once and really enjoyed. I’ve also enjoyed potato tacos.
Let’s not forget the torta de tamal !
Popup Bagels is doing a pop up with Chain. One of the best NYC bagels I’ve had recently
Yes, I think they bake the pizzas first, then add par-boiled ziti and more sauce and cheese on top and then bake again?
I might try to make this. Thanks for posting
Without dating myself (OK I have more rings than a redwood) in the 90s I discovered the joy of potato pizza… in… Rome. Yes. It was the most popular offering at pizza al taglio shops. Those places… the greatest dining experience in all of Europe as far as I was concerned lol
Boichik coming to LA
Boil and Bake in Costa Mesa as reported by @attran99 is making real lox in house.
Sorry about the pay wall
Wondered what place she is bent “out of shape” about? The line made me think of Courage but they are not unholy.
I thought maybe it was Calic but I’m not sure.
Looking at photos online, Calic and Courage both have holes.
If you look at this picture you will see that people may not be able to twirl some bagels from Courage Bagels on their fingers.
The bagels from Courage Bagels would meet my understanding of “chewy,” but it’s an imprecise word.
Maybe Wake & Late?
Wake & Late was meh with me, taste-wise. I did not test it to see if it twirled.
