Hi there, can anyone suggest a good restaurant that has baked clams on the menu? My partner has a craving for them and the only one we know that has them is in Ventura, which is an hour to get to from Santa Clarita where we live.
Almost all of the Italian restaurants where he grew up (NYC) had them on the menu.
Thanks for this rec! We will definitely go there soon. My partner and I went to Brophy’s in Ventura last night (spur of the moment) so he is sated for the moment. Frankie’s is half the distance from the drive to Brophy’s but I’m sure the drive going over the hill is worse than going to Ventura.
Dan Tana’s has clams casino and clams oreganata on the menu. Baked, Italian-American style, perhaps similar to that of NYC restaurants. Tana’s is a specific kind of place. The pasta sucks. But it can still be a good night out as some of the food can be enjoyable depending how you order. If it’s not your speed then you can always end the night with the burger and a martini somewhat nearby at Sunset Tower (Tower Bar, albeit the burger is better for lunch) or maybe better yet a bar pie and Henry’s Secret Ice Cream at Bar Next Door on Sunset just up Doheny.
