A couple of Saison/Angler vets opened this new spot where Taberu used to be (which I never got to try) but this one looks exciting. Funny enough, Skenes is also nearby at Lynx - Arts District I will go ahead and check it out tonight and report back!
Def report back - we booked for next week but I didn’t realize it’s a partnership with Taberu which is one of the worst meals I’ve had in LA
banged here after holy basil and osusume fumio so only tried a few lighter dishes the server recommended, but unless there are positive reports i’m not rushing back. if not for ig, i would have never know this was some genshiyaki concept since you can’t really see the kitchen from the dining room.
spicy avocado cucumber, togarashi oil, myoga
moromi caesar salad, 𝚐̶𝚛̶𝚒̶𝚕̶𝚕̶𝚎̶𝚍̶ romaine, moromi miso
not grilled
crispy pork belly “tacos”, mochi crepe, honey ume, daikon
tiger prawns, sauce of grilled prawn shells
miso black cod, grated daikon
lamb chops 3/5 could use some char.
miso black cod 3/5 the smoked soy on the grated daikon was great
spicy cucumber avo 3/5
this was my favorite dish, the kumquat broth is actually a jelly that the carpaccio sits on. delicious 5/5
no pic but the miso ice cream was also fantastic, not too sweet a little salty good contrast and the texture was almost airy, like whip cream. delicious.
i would come back to try more things, theres definitely some room for improvement and refinement but it was enjoyable.
I went first week. Not gonna say anything.
