David Chang: threat or menace?

Looks grand. I just have a R&D question: I often wonder if DC himself green-lights each of these new dishes?

pretty sure dude is fully checked out & fills his days doing podcasts and trying to shill that microwave bowl and instant noodles.

He made staff meal there the other day.

I find his whole lazy chef schtick anathema to any interest I’d have in a chef of his pedigree and all the more baffling given how inspiring the Momofuku cookbook is as a creative diary or keystone to learn something, for him ramen.

Maybe he decided that he actually likes money.

He did his time in restaurant kitchens. He may be mostly doing media and business these days, but he seems too productive to reasonably accuse him of being lazy.

I’ve heard enough first-hand horror stories about him (from the early days up to within the last few years) not to wish him any continued pedigree. Dead-eyed quick n’ e-z meals salesman feels like an appropriate nadir to his arc.

Not accusing him of being lazy. The persona that he uses to sell the microwave bowls, that he’s a shortcut chef, I find silly and contradictory. But I’m not making a global allegation about dude.

That’s not remotely a description of his current role in the $100-million company he started.

Having kids will do that to most people lol…

I’m sure he’s glad you’re carrying water for him. Are you familiar with his recent content output? Take a few hours of your life to watch some of the Majordomo Media channel and report back.

No

I was a big fan of his podcasts early on and thought he had some really substantive conversations. It’s basicly unlistenable now at least for me.

Completely agree. I’m subscribed to the Majordomo YT channel and most of it I skip over but I did enjoy the family of ladies making tofu stew a week or so ago.

He basically does media and VC / Angel investing through the lens of food and is pretty cynical about the restaurant industry. I’m not mad at him for it and respect the intelligence behind the naked commercialism but from a food perspective he doesn’t have much to say that interests me anymore.

For me I can separate that from Majordomo the restaurant which I really like

DC says Fullerton(OC) has better Korean food than Ktown LA.
