I do like eccentric havens. I do wish we had more of them. The pressures of capitalism make than difficult to sustain, but Cafe 2001 and YESS seem immune from the pressures of capitalism.
although cafe 2001 is faaaaar less eccentric than @butteredwaffles photoessays would suggest…..

To begin, video is inescapably a part of how journalists reach our audience.
I hate videos of reporters. It violates the basic principle of not inserting yourself into the story. And surely it will lead management to hire to some extent based on looks rather than writing skill.
As outlets for journalism continue to shrink, restaurant criticism can sometimes feel on the verge of extinction in America.
I think in LA especially Jonathan Gold having been a celebrity makes people not care much about anonymity.
