Drops of God

This new series on Apple TV would be of interest to anyone on this site. It concerns a French woman who must take part in a competition for the largest wine collection in the world. Her estranged and dying father (who is living in Tokyo) has designed a competition, between her and a Japanese student, concerning who is the best oenophile by pitting them against each other in a series of blind wine tastings. The winner will inherit a wine collection worth close to 150 million dollars. I cannot recommend this program highly enough.

The original manga on which this was based, Kami no Shizuku, was a fantastic read as well!

Thought it was terrific.
Would also give a shout out to Beforeigners - but there is no food tie-in.

There’s some caveman food in Beforeigners. Second season went way downhill.

Love Beforeigners!

I find myself not much impressed by the second season. It feels like the same tropes all over, again.

But it is fun to see the way wine is described.

Yeah - also not loving 2.0.

I’ll finish but it’s not at all the joy 1.0 was.

It’s either far too obvious/predictable or feels silly and contrived.

I feel it was never supposed to go past the end of the original arc - any new narrative past that just feels like a sophomoric cash grab…
