Epicurus Gourmet (North Hollywood) - The New Epicure Imports

Their last instock product list was three weeks ago, https://img1.wsimg.com/blobby/go/92700be0-5fa5-4e1a-9249-a64e798bb4c8/downloads/10.7.2023.pdf?ver=1697525702618.
Not looking good.

According to this article from 2018, Eric, Hillary, and a Kevin Jones were co-owners then:

The IG post thanks a “Josh” multiple times. Not sure if this an employee or a new co-owner.

Deep State research.
How very @PorkyBelly of you!

Thank you for the report.

If it becomes necessary, what are good alternative sources for their products? I’m especially interested in the frozen DeliFrance croissants.

The frozen croissants can be found at Guidi Marcello in Santa Monica.

I hope Epicurus Gourmet survives, there’s nowhere like it.

I’m confused, were they fired for something they posted that went viral for on social media?

Yes, Googling “epicurus gourmet owner” was very taxing.

yeah not sure what going viral has to do with the management change?

Thanks! How do these compare to the DeliFrance ones?

Just as tasty for me. They get delivered straight to my door as a bonus.

Tbh lots of mail order croissant options these days - I stopped getting them from Epicurus a long time ago.

Which are your favorites?

Went in today. Kevin was there and remains the owner. The staff were nice enough but the vibe is strange. Shelves were somewhat stocked but they said they have a big shipment coming in tomorrow which should get the shelves back to normal.

both Sur La Table and WS sell frozen croissants. I feel that WS is better but YMMV.

In either case I found them comparable to the Epicurus versions and when combined with shipping to my door, it was a no brainer to continue ordering online.

Omg! I am so happy I found this thread as I too was googling Epicurus Gourment ownership changes!!! I went there last week and for the first time in my life thought I was in the ‘Twilight Zone’. No familiar faces, shelves were half empty, no Josh, Eric, Matt, Hillary etc. I grabbed a few kinds of butter, pasta, tinned fish but just couldn’t enjoy my shopping trip there as I just kept walking around waiting for at least one familiar face. As I was paying, I asked the new employee where everyone was… he said there are management changes going on but the owners remain the same. I asked about the empty shelves including the empty cheese refrigerators. He assured me that they are waiting for product arrivals soon. I truly felt sad walking out, wondering where am I going to go for all the great products I have been purchasing from there for the last 18 months. Sigh. Ugh. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that they will continue to provide us with great imported products.

By the way, for great croissants made by a true French baker try ‘Lou the French on the Block’. Located on Riverside Dr. Burbank (right where Toluca Lake becomes Burbank - behind Bob’s Big Boy)!!! Only open Fri, Sat, Sundays.

Thanks for the tip - I tried them: Guidi Marcello stock Bindi croissants. They were good, though I’ll keep looking for the DeliFrance ones.

Looks like you’re in my hood so if you haven’t checked out the Kouign Amann at Le French Rooster definitely give it a try.
