I am unhappy to report that two years later the salsa and beer in Calabasas is still not open.

Yeah, it looks like the project has been abandoned. All the Salsa & Beer coming soon signs have been removed. That was about 6 months ago?

It has. They expanded the menu to include breakfast and brunch as well as booze, https://www.eatmomshaus.com/menu.

Sadaf (Encino) is my go-to for kebabs (soltani) and ghormeh sabzi when I’m in the SFV (usually en route to pick up wine at Woodland Hills Wine Co.)

Not sure I’ve ever seen plof or soup (along with manti and shawarma and some other stuff) at a food truck but Navat outside of the Jon’s on Laurel canyon and Magnolia has both! I just got a samsa because it needed to be portable

Navat is a Gem. Their Shawarma wraps are hefty and so good.

looks like Avi Cue is open, 4.5* on yelp, $22 for the sandwich.

Ta-Eem - $16.95
Tel Aviv Grill - $20.5
Saffy’s - $36

how do people go out to eat these days jfc.

Brief off-topic: I often wonder the same thing nowadays. It seems like entrees at dine-in places start at $15 and are often $20. It’s painful. :frowning:

Semi related tangent: has anyone been to Kubbeh Cohen? In the general area, and they do Mizrahi food, reminiscent of Azura in Jerusalem/Tel Aviv.

Looks great.

I saw Anajak’s TTT post yesterday on IG, and about half the dishes offered start at $30, and the “mains” are $50! Good for them that they’re succeeding, but DAMN, you can easily spend $200 per person there on a Tuesday. Seems like people are prioritizing going out to eat with family, friends, etc post covid. Couple that with rising food costs and inflation across the board, it’s easy to see why restaurants are charging so much for their food.

This is why I’ve only been to TTT once. Anajak is just not a cheap place in general. They don’t sell beer either so gotta pony up for the fancy wines. Stingy pours on the pairing to boot.

That $32 fried chicken is real good tho.

I liked the shawarma itself and the wrap was a two-meal heavy hitter but they go nuts on the sauces and the whole thing’s a bit too wet. It doesn’t sog through the lavash but I often lost the taste of the meat because of the goop. Samsas are sick as hell, though.

Just went last month on a Friday. Since we went on a Friday, we got the Mom’s Moroccan Challah Schnitzel special. It was good! Also got the Kurdi Kubbeh Okra Siske Meat. Honestly I didn’t do much research before going but everything looked so good so just picked whatever off the menu and it didn’t disappoint! We also frequent Tel Aviv Grill in Woodland Hills but usually just get their chicken shawarma and falafel pitas so I don’t have a direct comparison since we got different types of food at Kubbeh Cohen.

Prime Pizza 2023 Burbank update - consistency here is pretty top notch but I must lament the gradual lowering of the bar since opening.

They stopped cutting the squares long ago. Basil is no longer offered by default. The garlic powder has been removed.
