Favorites at Trader Joe's?

I really like both the blue cheese and the garlic butter ones– both the taste of the potatoes and the flavoring.

The batch of garlic butter from the fall were way too salty.

The bleu cheese ones smell a little too much for me…and I love a ripened cheese.

Got these there’s a lot of buzz on insta. Way too sweet and kinda thick. The worker said it’s one of the best items they have right now. I would violently disagree needs to be way more sour, thinner, and less sweet

I was most tempted by the new dark chocolate crispy rice treats. HOWEVER, I have pretzel M&Ms in my house so don’t really need to bring home more of that kind of treat.

I’m addicted to these, and the blue cheese chips are no longer available - only the garlic butter. That’s actually kind of good, because I needed an intervention.

You think those squiggly noodles are A-sha noodles made in the factory across from the Costco in Alhambra?

yes
the sauce isn’t very good, but that’s easy to fix
the noodles are good

How do you doctor the sauce? I’m pretty sure partner bought a pack a few mos ago and, while we like the noodles, the sauce was, well, as you described it.

Just make up a sauce you like – I’ve done sichuan-ish, sesame paste based (dan dan-ish), scallion-ginger oil, or whatever your personal preference is.

Honestly, I use something like Banchans instead and use the packet to marinate tofu or chicken for stirfry. But if you really want… add some Hoisin or Oyster Sauce. Add some chili oil or crisp on top. The noodles are good enough on their own for quickie lunches.

What is Banchans?

Bachan’s the Japanese bbq sauce im guessing

Yes! I try to make my own but it never comes out as good.

I’ve had good luck with a tare sauce recipe from Epicurious that includes ginger, garlic, and scallions. If it’s paywalled, try the archive or the one from Tasting Table which is similar.

I like that you can control the sugar, vs purchased versions which I find too sweet.
