Highly unlikely with a full police investigation, constantly strange behavior of many very young, naked girls etc. etc. that Lang was completely clueless that everything was just normal. It was just more convenient for him to close his eyes and ignore warning signs (it’s telling that other people saw these warning signs which led to this first police investigation when he was still employed by Epstein) - and no, the closed police investigation doesn’t mean that Lang should just continue as nothing had happened
Is this true? Genuine question…
My cursory understanding was that a 14 year reported an assault in 2005, leading police to investigate. God what an awful sentence to type out let alone consider.

Broken: Seeking Justice, a podcast by Tara Palmeri investigating billionaire financier Jeffrey Epstein’s sex-trafficking ring.
“Lang and Giuffre had more extended interactions because of the strict diets, which entailed organic, low-carb meals. “I went to the kitchen to go get something and I was starving,” said Giuffre, who asked Lang to prepare a pizza for her. This became a nightly routine: “He would have a pizza waiting for me already in the kitchen…we would just have a beer together and eat pizza and just talk. Sometimes I’d help him wash the dishes,” Giuffre said. Maxwell eventually caught wind of the nighttime pizza and beer, reprimanding both Lang and Giuffre, and making sure they would no longer interact.
About seven months ago, leaning on this connection, the podcast follows Palmeri and Giuffre as they attempt to deliver Lang a letter to his Manhattan Beach home that asks him to help those who were abused. Here is an excerpt from the letter:
“I’m sure you’ve heard of Epstein’s short incarceration and subsequential death. He’s gone now. He can’t hurt us anymore, but as you know, it wasn’t just Epstein running the most prolific sex trafficking ring of modern times. He had help, lots of help. That alone leaves me and his uncountable victims searching for justice. Justice comes in many forms. In my case, justice is holding the various perpetrators that participated, enabled, or looked the other way, accountable.
I’m not here to ruin your life. You have so much knowledge of the various people on the planes and his homes and anywhere you would have been with him. You truly can’t say you didn’t know or you can’t remember. You didn’t help when Brad Edwards and I reached out to you in 2014. Jeffrey was alive then and I get it. Maybe you were scared of him. We all were. You have the ability and frankly, the responsibility, to help now

Lang was interviewed by the FBI and (as any person in that situation ought to do) got a lawyer. His lawyer presumably told him to refer any requests to appear on podcasts to him. From that same Eater article:
Lang’s attorney Lawrence Lustberg said Lang is cooperating with New York prosecutors investigating Epstein’s sex ring. Lustberg also said he contacted Giuffre’s lawyer and offered Lang’s assistance, though no conversation has taken place. Lang released a statement to the Broken podcast, saying he never saw any sexual activity or nudity and was never aware of any underage girls. Lang maintains that he never was told of or saw any depraved acts committed by Epstein.
There was an earlier investigation but at that time Epstein was apparently discreet enough that it didn’t find anything actionable.
The earliest documented contact began in December 2001, when the West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD) alerted PBPD’s Organized Crime/Vice and Narcotics Unit that Ghislaine Maxwell was allegedly “hiring young women” from Palm Beach State College to work at Epstein’s Palm Beach residence. According to the WPBPD report, three students were approached on campus and one accepted work reportedly paying $200 a day. Two others later told investigators that Epstein had touched them inappropriately while they were at the home.
PBPD officers conducted interviews with several students who described seeing “nude photographs of women all over the house,” women topless by the pool and frequent massages that felt “weird,” though none of the students described witnessing criminal acts. Officers also performed trash pulls at Epstein’s property and recovered items including nude photographs, massage directories and a document titled “People That I Want You To Meet,” listing female names, ages and descriptions. That investigation was closed in April 2002 with the note that “no illegal activity has been reported or detected.”

I just think what Lang told the FBI is plausible. Some of the girls working for Epstein in 1998-2002 were college-age: they were recruited from local colleges. The police investigation from Dec. 2000 to April 2001 started with reports of Maxwell hiring college students. I have yet to see evidence that any underage girls other than Giuffre were working for him then. Maybe there were: without seeing the unredacted files, who knows? Maybe Epstein and Maxwell weren’t quite as depraved until a.couple of years later.
Did Giuffre tell Lang anything that would have clued him in to Epstein’s crimes? I’ve seen no reports of her telling anyone other than Epstein and Maxwell that she was underage. She was a few weeks short of 17 when she started working for Epstein, and looks plausibly 19 in the photo taken with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor around six months later.
There’s far too many great chefs and restaurants in LA for anyone to justify supporting people with questionable character. The nuances of his exact knowledge surrounding Epstein’s illicit activity are unimportant.

You saw that Giuffre wrote in her letter to Lang - “…You truly can’t say you didn’t know or you can’t remember…”. How more obvious do you need it or are you saying you believe Giuffre is lying ?

She didn’t know what he thought at the time, or that what he told the FBI was not his honest recollection. That’s why we have jury trials, not just podcasts.
People’s perceptions are different, memories are faulty, eyewitness reports are often wrong. Those are among the reasons people are innocent until proven guilty.
If Lang believed Epstein was a pedophile and his massages were sexual, why would he gave him a gift massage from a 35-year-old professional?

Not surprising that you think what Giuffre said and wrote (much more than just this sentence, e.g. how she sat together with Lang during their time and talk etc) is meaningless. The me-too movement must have been painful for you

I think what Robert is trying to imply is why would a young girl, literally stuck on an island under duress and subjected daily to the sexual demands of a depraved English aristocrat, ever repeatedly try to befriend the ringleader’s chef late at night to try and get his help?
I mean, really, there’s nothing to see here. Like Robert pointed out, the chef dutifully told big-time officials - under the direction of his lawyer - that he was basically unaware of anything nefarious going on (i.e “plausible deniability”) and so it’s his word vs some young college-aged woman and why would you ever believe the supposed victim?
And last but not least, who really gives a crap about all this…just go out and support APL because he was merely doing his job for a cool dude because “Being super-rich and having a lot of 19- to 25-year-old girlfriends is the American Dream!”.
Am I missing anything here?

Having had the misfortune of being a juror on one (relatively short) case (which had nothing to do w/ human trafficking), I don’t know if the interpretation of collective jurors is any more accurate than listening to a podcast, TBH.
My experience as an (alternate) juror has totally turned me off to the general concept of a jury trial.

Manhattan and Palm Beach are islands, true. Why didn’t she walk away? Because she’d been threatened / brainwashed by Maxwell and Epstein. Which would presumably also have inhibited her from asking other employees for help. Did she ask Lang for anything other than pizza? We don’t know.
Accusing Lang of crimes or complicity based on assumptions instead of facts is un-American.
