Holbox by Chichen Itza

Pretty consistent with the menus over the last 2 ish years! there are minor changes but maybe 1-2 dishes tops

Appreciate it.. I guess I was hoping for some seasonality. That menu is definitely good enough to go back for seconds though!

Resy pays for the costs of the event as part of their marketing budget. Restaurant receives ticket sales.

There’s a whole story to be told about Resy/Open Table wars

Finally got out here on my last trip to LA, at the end of November…

Tostada de Kanpachi & Uni

Scallop Aguachile

Taco de Pulpo en su Tinta (x2), Taco de Pescado al Carbon

Smoked Kanpachi Taco

Everything was excellent but to my surprise I liked the tacos more than the tostada. Joined the line at basically 11:30am on the dot, on Saturday morning, waited a little over an hour to place our order. Very glad I went; would try to go on an off-day next time.

ls there a day / time when there’s little or no wait?

The friend I went with reported no wait when he went on a Wednesday(?), though I don’t remember what time of day (but would guess earlier/mid-day).

~5-6pm weekdays (maybe not friday)

Or 3:00 between lunch and dinner I’ve had great luck with

Evening too. I was there at 730 recently and it was a ten person line. Asked the cashier and he said they’re slow in December

Good news (well maybe not for them) since I’m trying to take the family during Xmas break. Hopefully a weekday afternoon won’t be too crowded.

School’s effectively out now, so I imagine it’ll be a lot less busy these weekdays!

Bite your tongue @hungryhungryhippos. I was kinda thinking that too but hoping everybody is going skiing or going on vacation.

Had a meeting end early today downtown went to Holbox at 230 there was a line it fluctuated between maybe 20ish min out the door to one or two parties. I did the method for no wait everything was still :ok_hand: new rockfish collars are awesome almost a breaded fish sandwich taste mixed with the fattiest parts of the fish great balance with their cilantro based salsa. Crispy enough that at you can eat the fins like potato chips.

dammit, there are long lines now at holbox? we haven’t been since 2021 and were hoping to go back on our upcoming trip. i guess we might chance our arm on an early weekday lunch. worst case scenario, we’ll eat at chichen itza.
