Hot dogs - What's the best store bought brand?

I’ve been wanting to make chili cheese dogs! I usually get ball park beef or hebrew national.

Are you still around Mid-City? For regular skinless, I like A&H. I get them at Western Kosher.

My all around favorite is still Fork in the Road snappy hot dogs. Their skinless had a slightly odd seasoning.

Snake River.

Another vote for Fork in the Road, and unless you’re making chili from scratch, Wolf’s beanless is hard to beat.

Will have to give that a shot! I usually make my own or sometimes pick up some Frozen Zippys Beanless from Tokyo Central.

Yes, I am still in Mid-City. Will check them out! Never heard of A&H.

I was thinking of making the chili from scratch.

I’m always budget conscious.

Hoffy’s Hollywood Original are an all beef dog with a natural casing. Same dogs they serve at Pink’s.

They are available at Vons (maybe Albertsons) or at a MUCH better price, Smart & Final.

I’m a fan of Nathan’s, and a friend of mine recently informed me that Vienna brand is available at Walmart (at least here in PHX).

My go to is Hebrew National.

Somebody needs to figure out why buns come in 8 but many brands of hot dogs come in packages of 6/7. It’s a conspiracy. Anybody find good split top buns in SoCal?

Yes. Trader Joes Brioche Hot Dog Buns. It’s our go to for Lobster Rolls and snappy hot dogs. However, for Chili Dogs, I prefer the side slit buns. They open wider.

Fork in the Road gets my vote as well. And their Little Goodies make excellent pigs in blankets.

YES!

I used to like those too, with the casing. Unfortunately I cannot find them anywhere anymore, which is why I didn’t mention them. I used to get them at Albertson’s and they stopped carrying them. Ralph’s never had any of the casing dogs.

I used to like Boars Head but I don’t think they’re making frankfurters or sausages right now in the aftermath of their big recall last summer.

I used to get nathan’s too. Thanks for all the recs, I’m going to grill them! YUM! Anyone have a good, simple chili recipe?

Hmm, I wonder if I could bring the lamb ones home from Iceland

This Tommy’s chili copycat looks good! She did a lot of research, might be fun to try

So much easier for a lazy shit like me to just use XLNT.

Thin it out a bit and it’s close enough..

I think that Tommy’s gets theirs from RC Provisions.

Are Dogs better with skin on or skinless? Thank you for reminding me about that store! I have only been when I am getting tacos and park in their lot.

I like the snap of a casing like at pinks or a good hotdog stand, but call it personal preference which ever you prefer
