Will the Max and Helen Patty Melt become the new Hailey Bieber Erewhon Smoothie?!
we went today, yeah its mid.
there is just nothing that stands out here other than the prices. I understand it’s just starting out, but I dont see many of these items to improve significantly anytime soon. 100% media/influencer hype. everything we ordered ranged from “fine” to “that’s it?””. two thumbs down.
even if they lowered the prices just not somewhere I could recommend. curious what others from here think when they go.
Can you fill us in on what you got. I’m most likely hitting it up tomorrow AM. Let us know the land mines.
huh— bummer. I had high hopes as I live close and loved diners growing up (like the other former east coast posters). Wellllll…..I suppose I can just make these items myself, but it’s nice to pop into a cozy place for some old-school comfort food.
we tried the reuben, meatloaf, patty melt plus soups and a salad.
It’s fine. Not sure what else to say.
It’s the fucking best. I cannot. I want to put patty melts on the menu at the restaurants, but I don’t want the people at Cassell’s to be like, “Well, you just stole our shit.” Because I only want to do homage to what they’ve done. It’s just one of the best goddamn things you could eat anywhere.
…they have this different way they cook the cheese. They have this special griddle. I highly recommend it. Every time I go to a diner — and people don’t realize how often I eat at diners — I always get the patty melt and I’m always disappointed because it’s not a Cassell’s patty melt. It makes me sad.
thought he was saying this about max and helens and my jaw almost dropped haha
also saw a tiktok that said, “this was best restaurant ive been to all year”… like what are we doing?
Insane. Though how long can that last?
levain used to have 1+ hour line and now its empty. by January-february it’ll be normal
hhahhahaahahahahahhahahaahahahah
because of the supposed exclusivity/rarity of getting in early, my new theory is people brainwash themselves into believing it’s a good meal in order to justify waiting for hours on end.
I feel like this board needs to temper some expectations or even temper hopes that places like this (or super peach for example which is getting some haters, maybe because both are owned by big figures?) are going to be mind blowing. I am in larchmont a lot where one of my doctors is. I won’t mind dropping in here when the lines die down even if I’m paying a little bit more. If you’re expecting a diner (or diner style, don’t come at me it’s not my naming convention) to be the best thing you’ve ever eaten you’re gonna be disappointed. At the same time, if people want to wait 7 hours all power to them. Do what brings you joy.
the issue is price.
and also.. there was a popular tiktoker who literally (as I said a few posts above) said “this was best restaurant ive been to all year” so lol.
I’d encourage you to try it. it’s the definition of mid so people are there for clout more than anything in my opinion.
What to say? How was the meatloaf and what was it served wirh? The Patty Melt, worth the money? Good pastrami?
How was the matzoh ball soup? What salads?
Multiple posts in one thread, and you finally went- but no pictures?
I call LIAR. You haven’t been. LIAR.!
respectfully, this is such an out of pocket first post. welcome to FTC
I’ve been posting on this board for months, lol. I take it you must work for them so.. good for you I guess? I’ve also never posted a picture here.
Believe what you want, everyone there seems to be nice and trying. It’s not good.
Their PR team has been ON IT giving free meals out to influencers online so I’m not surprised. I sincerely hope it does well and improves food quality, but being called a liar from someone (most likely) working for them late night on a weekend is kind of hilarious.
Don’t have those prices if you can’t deliver on the food shrug
I think maybe I’ll pass on waiting hours in line for a grilled cheese and tomato soup.
I really doubt anyone who works for them would be this unhinged. Just feels like a deranged fanboy
Interesting that other than accusing me of working for them, and complaining about the prices- still no description of the food. Even without pictures.
How was your reuben? Brent’s Deli is a board favorite. Was the pastrami/bread inferior? Not a good value?
What soups and salads did you order?
These aren’t complicated questions.
I still don’t believe you went to Max & Helen’s. Doesn’t matter how long you’ve been posting here.
