I would really like to see @JosieC posts lol

I would really like to see @JosieC posts lol

BeamToast never posts photos and doesn’t go into much detail in reviews, but I find the lack of mention of wait time implausible, and I’m skeptical that everything on a menu developed by Nancy Silverton would be “mid,” especially given the reports on Yelp.
I’m going to split most of the posts here off and reserve this topic for first-person reports.
Wait hold up why does someone need to order the whole ass menu to have an opinion? I go to Clark street diner all the time and I literally only get corned beef hash. I’ve never tried anything else there. Does that mean I haven’t gone?
everyone here needs to relax. I believe beam went. But I also believe it’s a fucking diner and even if it has Nancy involved it’s gonna be better versions of diner food which to some will be “mid” (my least favorite descriptor of all time) because they had high expectations.
I also think we’re forgetting this is in larchmont, so naturally things will feel pricy. Or accepting that the patty melt is one (of a few) outliers in price and a breakfast plate at some other larchmont spots is also pricy for eggs and toast and bacon.
people are also conflating the line with the value prop. Of course there’s a line. It’s Phil and Nancy and the place has been in the works for a while. I don’t think they even need to be paying influencers (if they even are, I bet a lot of influencers just know they need to beat the content glut coming from this place to get their views) to get hype right now. Lots of places in LA will debut to massive lines. I remember fondry being 2-3 hours opening week.
I don’t know why I’m defending this place so hard - people just need to chill out
It was an extremely rainy day on the day we went.
The place is mid. I will post a review and go into EXTREME detail on why the meal and service was shit and possibly the worst value in LA dining today since this loser “Josie” is being such a whacko. I didn’t want to go so negative but now they’ve pissed me off. Probably tonight or tomorrow.
And I still believe you work for them/are extremely associated with someone who works for them (Will happily throw out my theory on who specifically in the review too, would you like that “Josie”?)
You wanted a review, boo. You’ll get one. Be careful what you wish for. I’m sure the ownership and business will be thrilled about the people they associate with after your disgusting accusations.
There’s no reason a TV personality and celebrity chef should pay influencers. They’ve been getting more publicity for free than money can buy.
By *pay influencers I mean getting free meals.
doesnt mean they dont.

unusually excited for this forthcoming review
I will comment on a place I have eaten…. the chain, The Melt (there is one at 7th and Fig, but I’ve also gone to the one in Danville) has excellent Tomato Soup, you can order and chow down in less than 10 Minutes. I often just take it to go and make my own Grilled Cheese.
Thanks, I’ve never tried that.
Because we’re talking tomato soup, the best tomato soup I can remember eating is the pappa e pomodoro soup at Farfalla in Los Feliz.
Just like confirmation from @JosieC that you are not associated with the restaurant and are friends with anyone involved/or received dishes from them before I make my review?
Awaiting a simple question.
Tomato soup!
That is definitely a topic we can discuss.
No one needs to order the entire menu, but 6 items (per the poster) warrants more detail than given.
Nope, I’m not. Just a longtime customer of Nancy Silverton restaurants.
However, you seem heavily invested yourself. How many posts on this thread are yours? Several- and before I said anything.
Just an FYI, this restaurant was based on Palace Diner in Maine. The menu follows an almost identical layout, with similar pricing. And that’s an area with a much lower cost of living than LA.
In any case, to post on a food board claiming “mid” after trying multiple dishes and no explanation is Yelp posting.
Mid!
I believe you. You seem very privileged.
I love Nancy Silverton restaurants. Have you been to this diner yet?
Given the nature of the menu, “mid” seems like high praise. I’ve never had the fortune of eating at a diner that reached mid.
Some design elements are similar, but the actual items are fairly different and M&H is generally more expensive.
Looks about the same to me. I can definitely see the inspiration in menu- even with different options.
As for pricing, it’s in the ballpark.
$16 cheeseburger vs. $27 patty melt seems pretty different to me. M&H has >2X as many items.
