Looks like they have two locations?
Went to try one this morning and thought it was pretty good. I wish the curd was a bit thicker as it mostly just poured right out. Thankfully I had a box so I could just mop it up with each bite. I wouldn’t put it on the level of the Republique pie, but it was a damn good donut. The apple fritter was quite good as well since it didn’t have the big apple chunks and overly sweet gel in the middle.
That’s funny. I hoped the apple fritter would have a better version of the apple chunks and gel so was disappointed it had none
At @Ns1 i got fat-fluenced by you! It was delicious but man did I have regrets since it’s probably negatively nutritional which is how I feel basically every time I go to sidecar lol
Passion fruit has micronutrients
Whatever nutrients that teaspoon of passion fruit has doesn’t offset that big ass crumble dipped fried dough with cream and sugar lol, I’m gonna have to work out like you!
Puchica in Sherman Oaks. Not much in the way of pics b/c it was lunch w/ a mentor. I know nothing about Guatemalan food, but I thought the mojarra frita was very good (at least the fish itself). Not sure if unadorned potato slices are a routine part of Guatemalan food?
Green salsa (barely visible to the right of the chips) had a nice spicy kick.
Had one last Mozart chocolate left from my recent trip to Europe. Ate it last night. Yum. ::sigh::
Fun. I was at #2 I guess.
@JeetKuneBao I feel like there have to be spots like this in Little Saigon. Know any?

@Ns1 beat me to it.
I was just at Cococane today and they always have exotic fruits.
84 minutes until Tanaka Farms sells Matsumoto Peaches
F! I thought I got there on time at 9am, but they were all sold out already.
A lot of people got there early. I missed out this summer.
Do they only sell them one day a year? If not, I assume you could also get them next Sat?
I would like to say thank you to the guy who sold me a Matsumoto peach for $5.
I wanted to buy them as a birthday present for my close birthday friend (she loves peaches!), but I was upset that all the boxes were sold out before I even got there, and I was there at 9 AM (which is what Tanaka Farms wrote that they will be available from 9AM-12PM on their Instagram post).
I didn’t want to leave empty handed, so I asked those with boxes if I can buy 1 peach off of them (hopefully they’re not likely going to eat them all within 3 days). After a few rejections, this one tall young guy with a friendly face said that he got me and handed me a peach. He even took more time to give me a good looking peach. Thank you man, you are a life saver.
Plus he saved me $75 as I was tempted to buy 2 boxes for $80. It sucks I can’t have one myself or share my peaches with all of my close friends, but at least I gave it to someone who loves peaches (her favorite fruit!). It feels good to give.
Next year, I will definitely get those peaches.
I was very wrong. Cucina Enoteca is way better than North Italia. The $10+ retail price on wine is a good deal as well. Irvine Spectrum on a summer Saturday night was insanely crowded. Like 0 parking spots in the lot next to the movie theatre.
Appetizers. Big meatball pic was blurry but tasty with the extra sauce and polenta. Big juicy meatball. All appetizers were enjoyed by the table. My kids like any well cooked octopus.
Pizzas were cranking out all night non stop. We sat right next to the pizza oven station and the two person team had an insane number of tickets.
Pasta course. Bucatini Amerticriana & Rigatoni Bolognese were lovely. Nice Al dente and good sauces. The crab was not very good. Something was missing whether it was spice or acidity.
I like Enoteca, too!
Pasta Supply Co. (San Francisco)
I ate at Prairie in early 2019 and loved it. Was waiting for Pasta Supply Co. to open up dinner service and timed a trip North right. Showed up 15 minutes before open on a Sunday, we were third to put our names down. Five minutes before open that turned into a crowd of 20 or so people and more showing up all the time.
Pan’terra with sour cream and onion burrata
House greens salad with lemon, anchovy and parmigiana + pan’terra breadcrumbs and hot guanciale
Blaufrankisch, Claus Preisinger, Austria 2020
Lil’ juicy meatballs - beef and pork, with tomato and pan’terra
Maltagliata in basil pesto - some had been scooped before picture
Mafaldine add a scoop of beef cheek sago
Seka Hills olive oil panna cotta with ruby grapefruit and pink peppercorns
Wood Tavern (Oakland)
Hadn’t been since before covid but been a bunch over the years. Fun place, can be kinda straightforward menu at times but always delicious
House smoked duck breast and can’t remember the cheese
Seared ahi tuna salad
Casarecce with morels and peas
Strawberry and key lime pie
Chez Panisse - Cafe Upstairs (Berkeley)
Here’s where I go blank. Besides visual specifics I have a hard time remembering anything about what I’ve eaten unless I have the menu. I mainly remember how much I enjoyed the experience.
Great way to spend a Wednesday and a last lunch out before heading back down the next morning.
Anchovies
Sweet corn soup
Cannard Family Farms garden lettuces with Banyuls vinaigrette
Shrimp. tangy aioli, loved it.
Pesto
El Muelle 8 (Downey)
Returned with my coworker to order things we couldn’t get to last time.
Gaxiola - marinated tuna, guacamole, bandera sauce
Tuna Fit - tuna, salsa negra
Aguachiles verde
Comadre - shrimp, mango sauce with pineapple
Everything was great! But that Comadre was nuts because the sauce was a perfect balance of sweet, salty, sour…and completely refreshing for a day. The tuna and aguachiles were actually really good…but that comadre outshone them all.
They offer party trays and catering for all their dishes. You just need to ask.
