Las Vegas recommendations

Also, thoughts on Bardot versus Bouchon for brunch? From memory, I prefer Bardot for the food and Bouchon for the outdoor seating.

Purely through proximity to where I’ve stayed, I have gone to Bardot much more frequently for brunch over the years and have always enjoyed myself. My memory is that they’re both good and think which one you go to depends more on if you want something specific to one of their menus, location, or decor.

Bardot being in the center of the strip and a reasonable walk from several resorts you might be staying at just makes it way more convenient and it hasn’t felt worth it to go out of the way to Bouchon. I’d definitely rank Bardot as the best brunch option within that center strip area where Bouchon is more north strip.

You’d probably appreciate the wine list at Lamaii.

I was thinking of going to Lotus of Siam. How does it compare?

Never been to Lotus but heard it has gone downhill. Lamaii’s owner / wine buyer used to work there

If you go to Lotus go to Flamingo Rd. The Red Rocks location is supposedly not very good. The last few trips to LoS have been uneven. Some kinda mediocre and some as good as usual.

The sake list at LoS is pretty good.

Vegas is pretty freakin expensive these days, $10 for a shitty cheese slice? no problem

Herbs & rye for all day happy hour steaks and spicy mussels and the drinks are pretty damn good - nothing truly next level but it has become an off-strip staple

Brunch at Bouchon. Nothing impressed. Bad, mealy shrimp on the seafood platter.

Nomad Library. Tried the tuna tartare and caviar. Found the table service for the tuna tartare gimmicky and the tuna tartare ordinary for a restaurant in this price range. I liked the caviar service more. The room is awesome. Enjoyed the service and wine by the glass. I would definitely return.

Lamaii. I enjoyed the wine list and a nice JJ Prum Graacher Himmelreich auslese. I found the food average. I was displeased with all the crispy this and crispy that, which I view as a gimmick to cover for low quality ingredients.

NY Bagel and Bakery. Entry level soft bagel and thin cream cheese.

Vesta. Excellent pour over, delicious matcha iced tea. I love coming here.

Cirque du Soleil O. !!!

Is Yaw Farm Coffee Roasters the best coffee in America? I’m not sure but the drink I ordered was delicious. Yawtee 2 shots oat milk and house made vanilla. I will say that the coffee shop was one of the darkest establishments I’ve ever been to. Very dark inside. There was no seating all drinks were to go. My guess is that they are very busy due to their new ranking. The blueberry muffin was amazing. One of the best pastries I’ve had in a very long time. Do not miss this.

If you’re at the Aria sports book betting horses or games this is a great options. Parm at Proper Eats food hall on 2nd floor. Nice chicken parm hero for $19. The bread was a little soft would have liked a sturdier roll but otherwise very tasty.

Newly opened up Cote at Venetian restaurant row. A very impressive build out. 3 tiered stadium like setup overlooking the big bar in the middle. Would definitely come back.

We ordered the butchers feast with the 1oz Wagyu add on. $88 for the butchers feast and $34 for the Wagyu. Started with shrimp cocktail and the Caesar salad. Butchers Feast comes with banchan, steamed egg, rice, ssam and 2 jigaes. All of the banchan and sides were delicious. I would come back just for the jigaes. Both were as good or better than what I’ve had in OC at Yangmani and Mo Ran Gak. High quality beef cooked for you. They use an aged 45 day huge chunk of tallow to grease the grill between each preparation.

Don’t forget about the great soft serve and caramel. Wish there was more caramel.

We were absolutely stuffed. Next time I think we could skip appetizers and the Wagyu. With drinks I think you could get out of here easily under $200 pp which is great in Vegas and for the quality of meat.

Last photo dump from this trip. Had a successful day 1 of the Breeders Cup but got absolutely killed on day 2.

I wish we had something like Bagelmania near us in the OC. Good bagels and solid breakfast diner food. I thought I was getting a corned beef hash scramble not scrambled eggs with hash on the side. Oh well. I’d obviously have asked for sunny side up for the yolks to mix in with the hash. I’m not a heathen.

Sat at the bar at Mott 32 for brunch after Bagelmania so we only had a few light bites. We’ve been here a few times but way too full to get the duck which is excellent. Very well made high quality dim sum. The pork buns with a slightly sweet crunchy exterior are my favorite. Quail egg shui mai is delicious.

I’m going in the spring with a mix of me time and me + a friend time. What’s new and worth a visit?

Not terribly new but I can never not go to Turkey and the Wolf when I’m in NOLA. Friends all say the Vegas shop is just as good, also doing breakfast all day and their BEC biscuit is killer

I would check out the new Caribbean steakhouse from Kwame Onwuachi that should be opening by spring. Maroon by Kwame Onwuachi | Caribbean Steakhouse Cuisine at SAHARA Las Vegas

If some folks in your party are vegetarians, maybe check out Gymkhana.

Oh yeah I forgot about Gymkhana. I was in Vegas last week for CES and several clients told me this was the best dinner they had at CES.

Joe’s Stone Crab depending on if you make it there in season. Lot of people were raving about the steaks ironically.

The SO loves Joe’s. We had a blow out dinner there last year for his birthday with the family. The stone crab was excellent as was the service. The steaks are fine.
We were hoping Vegas would get the larger claws…X-large and colossal, but I think Miami keeps those.

@boourns I do love Raku. That’s on my rotation for regular trips.
