Au couer is best for pâté chaud. I would not get anything else there.

In this day and age of marketing and IG, Ba Le is not going to get the raves from the basic public. I still adore it and patronize it whenever I’m in the area. The only time I don’t go there is when I’m looking for a heo quay banh mi…I hit Carrot & Daikon for that. But the dac biet is my favorite at Ba Le.

Yeah I also got a dac biet for home. I will try this heo quay next time!

Bun vit Thanh dah. Got both the bun vit dry and also the goi vit. I think for gois I much prefer the chicken to duck. Very tender duck not chewy or overcooked

But I definitely want to try their duck soup noodles next time. I miss that Chinese viet duck soup place that place was awesome

Carrot & Daikon is in the plaza next door at the corner of Magnolia and Bolsa. Park once, 2 banh mi stops.

Phat Ky Mi Gia is still open but only Wed-Sun 9am-2pm if that is the Chinese-Viet duck noodle soup you are referring too.

Au coerer Paris…..yes definitely only the pate chaud!

Ba Le Westminster..harsh reviews on Yelp and never really mentioned on Reddit. I don’t think this place gets much love outside of this thread. The pate and mayo are undefeated. Everything I believe is made in house.

Phat Ky Mi Gia seems kinda forgotten which is a shame because that duck noodle soup is great.

Thanks for updating this thread! I am sure there is more hidden gems in Little Saigon despite the popularity of Kei Concepts

It can also be helpful to look at the pictures of the food. But yeah, I could do without sifting through reviews like the second that pops up for Osteria Mozza, which complains that “the menu has Italian terms” and that “the pepper of the Bavette was so strong that’s all you taste,” while failing to note that it’s bavette cacio e pepe.

Regarding the menu pics: I really wish Yelp would sort them by date, which is a pretty fucking obvious thing to do for menu pics. But Yelp has been coasting for 20+ years now with the same stupid site / app. It won by being first, not by being good.

If their opening hours align I will make it back at some point by the end of the year

Ba Le gets love from the people who grew up with Ba Le.

Yeah I can see that

There doesn’t seem to be any attempts to advertise/market themselves to younger crowds and/or to non-Vietnamese.

But also ba le varies so much from location to location

Any good cafe sua da in North OC?

You can sort them by date - you have to do it for each restaurant but it takes 2 seconds

I would check out THH and Carrot & Daikon. I these banh mi spots are actually pretty solid.

If you have a chance definitely check out the coffee and drink scene in Little Saigon now. It’s probably one of the best trends to happen in the last few years

I’ll try Carrot & Daikon. The new Placentia location is 5 mins from my house.

Every time I’m in the vicinity I go to Phin Smith. It’s my absolute favorite coffee.

Since thh aggressively expanded I like it much less.

I don’t see such an option.
