Cal-Middle Eastern breakfast / lunch / weekend brunch place in the old Sushi Banzai space. Chef-owner Mona Leena Michael was the executive chef at Dyafa. Reservations are essential on the weekend but it was only half-full when we walked in on Thursday around 10:00.
Knafeh pancake ($18) was fantastic. Flavors like traditional knafeh but much lighter, though it’s still rich enough that you’d probably need 3-4 people to polish it off. We had leftovers.
Za’atar manousheh ($5) was good. Za’atar itself was great.
Turkish eggs ($16), delicious and surprisingly spicy, but for me way too much labneh (which was great with the manousheh).
The pita that came with the eggs was fine but I prefer the thicker style.
