Majordomo - Chinatown

I think the lunch like dinner has hit and miss dishes. I think i’ve tried everything at this point outside of a few new dishes they’ve put on in the past week.

Dishes I really really like that are still on the menu.

Grilled whole striped bass (incredibly simple but great preparation)
Seafood cocktail
Lobster Salad
Whatever the harry’s Berries dessert is gonna be.

I did not care for the grilled dduk galbi at all. Fried chicken is good but I know there’s variance on people’s opinions

Awww… thanks! I know. He looks like he wants to beat everybody up, but he’s really a sweetheart.

I can’t take him anywhere. I came back from the restroom and the waiter was having him take his jacket off so they could talk about traps or whatever it is gym rats talk about.

You think we can source them direct?

I know a guy

Aw shucks… The season for mulberries is rapidly drawing to a close. I just made what is likely the penultimate mulberry delivery of the season to Shunji today.

Very nice! I wish we lived closer. They could definitely help me up my wine game.

I want to give a little shoutout to @attran99 for the delicious Adastra Pinot. If we were going to depart from Majordomo’s wine list then this was the wine to do it. Adastra Winery is an organic winery. She can fill in the blanks. But they’re rule breakers. They let the weeds stay and other plants & fruits grow close to the vines. The grassy, herbaceous quality and the rich berry notes are coming from the actual plants. I loved the spicy notes of anise. Perfect with the duck!

Agree. Sam and his team are top shelf!

Um, order the Holstein Ribeye?

I have and I didn’t care for the Holstein ribeye. I’ve only had those fries that one time and I wish I could order it without ordering the steak

I think I name dropped @PorkyBelly.

Okay, so we’ll be staying in Chinatown for a couple of days. :dancer:t4: Guess who’ll be eating at the bar at least one night? The bar we weren’t allowed to sit at last Saturday, but never filled up, btw. Sooo, my unofficial wine mentor, what’s looking good to you? A non-baller bottle I might add. BEVERAGE — MAJORDŌMO home

P.S. All wine lovers feel free to chime in.

I’ve had great recommendations from the somms and bartenders. Part of the greatness of the place is how well they know the list and what goes with what. Even the servers are often highly knowledgeable.

The other night we had a Romorantin (Herve Villemade Cour-Cheverny “Les Acacias” 2016, $78) and a Sciaccarellu (Clos Fornelli “La robe d’Ange” 2017, $53).

Yeah, I was thinking with a wine program like that the servers and bartenders are expected to be pretty knowledgeable. I should be in good hands.

BTW… the crispy duck rice is still on the online menu. Like a big fat tease.

The online menu was last updated on May 11.

@TheCookie Wine really depends on personal taste, but they have two Muscadets on the menu and Muscadet is one of the biggest bargains in the wine world. I’m also a huge Agrapart champagne fan, which is also on the menu and is a reasonable bargain in the champagne world, but I’m usually toting my own magnum of Agrapart. I know restaurants hate me because of this (although I try to make it up by splurging on the food), but champagne really does taste better in a magnum and even with corkage, you can buy a magnum of Agrapart for less than a bottle off the list. Of course, it depends on how many you will be. For me, a bottle of champagne will do for two people, but if there are 3, then a magnum is definitely required . . . .
