awesome!
2026 California Michelin Guide ceremony is next week in San Diego. Any predictions? New stars, upgrades, or demotions?
Kato will get another star
The long shot that I would bet money on is Lynx one star. 10% chance
Restaurant Ki - two stars maybe? Only went there once but was extremely impressed.
Miura, Jacaranda, Maison Kanatha, Lielle - one star likely. >50% for each. Added: Kojima, agree with porkybelly.
Baroo — 25% shot at one star. I think it deserves a star but history suggests Michelin doesn’t love it.
Corridor 109 — 50% shot at one star.
Kali and Nozawa Bar — lose star I predict. Nozawa Bar was shaky even before the chef change. Kali the steakhouse is well below 1* level for me (but good).
Verspertine = three stars seems like a long shot. 20%
corridor
lielle
miura
kojima
will seline continue to get snubbed?
enclos 3?
Dave Beran pretty much said that Seline would likely shut down if it doesn’t get a Michelin star because the economics aren’t working
Electric Bleu: One star, even though it’s a little too soon.
Wow I’ve never been there, that’s high praise. Booked for next week
Not saying EB deserves the star yet. They’re still finding their identity. But it just feels like a Michelin California pick to me.
someone knows something ![]()
get your reservations in. One of these has plentiful reservations and certainly will not by next week
Lielle seems like the obvious pick but Kojima seems like the right pick ![]()
I’m very curious what you think! Just a warning that seating can be tight. It feels like a very personal restaurant of the Chef that you just don’t see much in west LA.
“por qué no los dos?” the inspectors said
Whew!
Haven’t thought about 715 in a while anyone been?
Maybe a year ago? Same as always for me. Good sushi, not my favorite.
We go to Gwen and Camphor regularly. They have not dropped for us. If anything Gwen has improved for me. They always seemed pretty borderline as Michelin star restaurants. I wonder what specifically caused them to lose their stars. It’s too bad; must be hard on the team. It’s mentally easier never to have than to have and lose.
Agreed on Gwen. Sadly I’ve had some bad meals at camphor in the last year and a half ish
sora and sei not getting a bib is crazy.
Not sure what’s going on at Camphor, but it looks like the chefs who opened it up aren’t running it together anymore, and Max Boonthanakit quietly opened up Salina in Porter Ranch in April (bit of a trek to get there). Bummer, I remember really enjoying Camphor when I visited in 2022
